Sen. Steadman's Partner Dies

  • by: Colorado Pols

The Denver Post’s Lynn Bartels reports this morning that Dave Misner, the partner of State Sen. Pat Steadman, died early this morning at their home of advanced pancreatic cancer. Misner’s cancer was diagnosed only this past June. Bartels reports that Misner was a frequent presence at the Capitol, particularly during this year’s struggle over civil unions legislation.

We’ll update with information about memorial services once available.

  1. Some of my fondest memories of Dave are from elections where the was a ballot question related to the Science and Cultural Facility District on the ballot. We would dress as a large polar bear with a variety of contumes to promote support for the organizations covered by the district.

Pat was one of the first friends I made when I moved to Colorado over 20 years ago. My heart goes out to him and the rest of the family and their friends.

I hope everyone who knew and loved Dave can take comfort in the fact that he is no longer suffering and no longer in pain.

  2. Dave was truly special, as was his loving, supportive, and loyal relationship with Senator Steadman. The world is greater for his having lived in it, and less for his passing.

  3. So sad. We all lost an important man. Dave meant a lot to me. We would have fun while Pat would be doing his important work as a lobbyist. Pride fests were so much fun with Dave. And, I would always find a way to get him in trouble with Pat.

It is a sad day for all of us. It is a sad and hard time for Pat.

    Peace

  4. He always had a lovely smile for everyone he met. My heart is heavy for his family, his friends, and especially for Senator Steadman. I’m glad he did not suffer long. RIP Dave Misner — Colorado is better because you were here.

  5. My thoughts and prayers go out to Pat and all their friends and family.

“God grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, the courage to change the things we can, and the wisdom to know the difference”

  6. I’m so happy to have Pat Steadman as my state senator. Sad, though, to hear about the loss in his life. I’m glad he and his partner, Dave, had the opportunity to stand side-by-side for what they believe in.

Senator Steadman, although I’m sure the grieving will continue, please continue to fight the good fight — on so many issues.
