It's Chemtrail Season Again For Colorado Republicans

  • by: Colorado Pols

With springtime breaking out across the Rockies, it’s time to head outside after an unusually long and cold winter, breathe in the fresh mountain air, look up at the beautiful blue sky…and then, if you’re former Colorado House candidate and newly-elected chair of the Rio Grande County Republican Party Carol Riggenbach, scurry back inside in terror:

Much like the myth of underground aliens at Denver International Airport or the interstellar wars being fought underneath Archuleta Mesa near Dulce, New Mexico, the conspiracy theory that commercial jets passing overhead are spraying chemicals for any number of nefarious purposes from mind control to mass impregnation recirculates on unmoderated message boards and late-night AM radio on a more or less continuous basis. While it’s true that there are lots more planes flying today creating more visible condensation trails than when some of us were kids, notwithstanding the legitimate concerns about jet aircraft emissions and climate change it’s been conclusively proven there’s nothing X-Files-ish going on.

In short, it’s one of the more crackpot conspiracy theories in circulation that most of the time would not be worth elevating by repetition. Let’s be clear that the only reason we’re talking about chemtrails at all is a newly-elected Colorado Republican county party chairperson wants to talk about chemtrails.

We may all be dumber for the experience, but you needed to know.

  1. Little do they know that Boebert pointed her spray upwards shortly after the picture in the post below was taken, with the controls set to "chemtrail."

  2. Sigh!!! There seem to be more graduates around here, from Trump University, than was originally thought.

There is good advice though about not looking up, especially if one is around a tree. Never know when one might get a little bird poop in one's face.

  3. How dumb do you have to be in the 21st century not to know what a contrail is? My high school was lousy with kids from military families from Fitz, Lowry, and Buckley. Fighter jets flew over all the time. Our mascot was a thunderbird and our yearbook was Contrails.

  4. Those idiots are a mile higher than the idiots down here at sea level. Yeah, you cannot even guess how stupid you have to be to believe contrails are the same as a what a crop duster would plop on you.

  5. Ah, what the hey, if this nonsense keeps more of these batshitter idiots off the streets and holed up for longer playing duck-and-cover and trembling in their home bunkers, I’m thinking maybe we should consider ways to encourage these reports?

  6. I'm encouraged that the Republicans selected such a person to be the leader of the Rio Grande County Republican Party.

I expect the county's current 2,715 active voter registrations for Republicans will include a number likely to back away from their commitment as they see this sort of statements of Carol Riggenbach and her supporters.

    1. Enough with the euphemisms, those "injuries" should be called out for what they actually — horrific genetic mutations!
