  1. Coming soon, to a Canadian province near you …. TABOR!

Alberta’s Conservatives Retain Power Behind Hard-Right Leader – The New York Times (nytimes.com)

"In a victory speech, Ms. Smith said her first act when the legislature reconvenes would be to introduce a law requiring that any future personal or business tax increases be approved by voters in a referendum, suggesting that it would make the province more attractive to investors."

    1. Which is fine if that is all it does. What got Colorado is so much trouble was all the other happy horseshit that Doug Bruce threw in his TABOR Amendment.

  2. It seems pretty quiet here on the pages of Pols this morning. I, for one, am admittedly growing almost bored following the political news. I cannot see any viable path for the GQP to regain control, but I am troubled by one misconception that seems all too common around here.

That is some sense of equivalency between the GQP and the Democrats.

    'Tain't so, Magee.

    1. I'm not certain if this is an evergreen quote or one of the examples of "everything old is new again."

I can hardly wait to see if God is blessing the Republican Party in the debt ceiling process …. I'm thinking that Oscar Wilde may have a more accurate, albeit cynical, idea of the actions of Gods in the Republican Party's contemporary politics.

“When the Gods wish to punish us, they answer our prayers.”

  3. This might win the interwebs this morning:

Pantless Joe! Republicans are apparently so dumb that they’re constantly getting beat by a man who can’t find his pants. LOL. Well fine, we’ll go with it too. Joe Biden is such a good president he’s beating back fascist fuckwads who want to wreck the economy and he’s doing it in his boxers. Put the man in a g-string and the Republican Party is toast.

    1. Now wait just a goddamn minute here! The GOP ad I saw on YouTube just yesterday said that superman megagenius Kevin McCarthy completely rolled Biden in those negotiations and forced through a deal that's good for all Americans. I kinda miss the days when the wingnut dumbasses used to game-plan responses.

So now my mental visualization features Dark Brandon in a G-string. But that's just me. Your mileage may vary.

      1. They’re getting desperate when they have to resort to photoshopping the POTUS package. As any chess player knows, the desperation of your opponent makes your victory more likely.

  5. Oh, Hiedi Heidi. Sure hope you’re correct about something, for once…

Flipping Colorado Blue has Become Democrats’ Blueprint for the Rest of America

Well, the story is from notorious Chinese propaganda rag The Epoch Times, and it does feature dubious masked  “Communists and Antifa” members burning flags on 1/20/21….with no org or protest  signs or the ubiquitous party  newsletters…saying quaint things like “Hippie , go home!”….you know, like real anti-fascists do….

But sure, Hiedi…when Polis, Gill, Stryker, and Co came up with The Blueprint, when Democrats started running coordinated campaigns, when Giron, Hullinghorst, and Pabon promoted  HB1303,  which created Colorado’s modern, accessible, and fair elections system, Republican rule in Colorado began to decline.
And as long as promoting the Big Lie is your go-to strategy, Hiedi, Team R will never win again.

    1. It also helped when Republicans started running deeply flawed and/or ridiculous clowns like Dan Maes, Scott McInnis, Tom Tancredo, Ken Buck, Daryl Glenn, and Hiedi Heidi Ho Ganahl for statewide office.

It's as though the GOP isn't even trying anymore.
