FORMER U.S. SEN. GARY HART ENDORSES RITTER

Former U.S. Sen. Gary Hart has endorsed leading Democratic gubernatorial candidate Bill Ritter, joining many other influential Coloradans who are backing Ritters candidacy.

Bill Ritter has a strong sense of where Colorado needs to go, Hart said. Hes a progressive thinker who isnt bound by old, traditional ways of doing things.

Hart served two terms as a Democratic United States senator from Colorado from 1974 to 1986. He recently accepted an endowed chair position at the University of Colorado at Denver. Prior to that, he co-chaired the U.S. Commission on National Security/21st Century and the Council on Foreign Relations task force on homeland security. His most recent book, The Shield and Cloak: The Security of the Commons, is due out next month.

Hart said Ritters personal history and dedication to public service add to the many compelling reasons to support his candidacy.

Bill understands the desperate need we face as a state to invest in our educational base as a means of stimulating economic growth in Colorado, Hart said. He will surround himself with people who will help him think creatively and imaginatively about how we return Colorado to a leadership role in the West.

Ritter said he was honored to receive the support of such a visionary leader as Gary Hart. Gary Hart is one of the most innovative thinkers Ive ever known, Ritter said. I have long valued his insights and Im humbled to have his support.

  4. You mean the press release wsn’t written by Gary Hart?  Someone in the Ritter campaign wrote it?  Oh my. The “isn’t bound by old, traditional ways of doing things” gave me pause when I thought Hart had written the release.  Now, it makes me stutter-step to think that came from Ritter’s camp.

  6. If Lindstrom stays “in” the govs race he should be ashamed of himself. Three seats will swing the House and he is incredibly vulnerable thanks to his gubernatorial stunt.
