No, Lauren Boebert Had Nothing to Do With That

THURSDAY UPDATE: We have a new addition to the list of things that Rep. Lauren Boebert finds confusing: Sarcasm.

—–
Congressperson Lauren Boebert (R-ifle) has an irritating habit of regularly taking credit for federal funding in the third congressional district that she quite literally had NOTHING to do with acquiring. It happens so often, in fact, that normally mild-mannered Sen. John Hickenlooper fired off an Op-Ed published in the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel blasting Boebert for claiming credit for the work of others in Colorado’s congressional delegation.

According to a story today in the Alamosa Daily Courier, Boebert is at it again:

At an informal visit at the San Luis Valley Council of Governments in Alamosa, Boebert spent about 30 minutes listening to the concerns of officials before heading to another meeting with officials.

After discussing the $20 million in earmarks she has brought to the district (none in the Valley), the congresswoman said that in the 2.5 years she has been in office, she has secured a total of $303.5 million for the district. [Pols emphasis]

Um, no. Boebert had as much to do with “securing” $303.5 million for her district as anyone reading this story.

Boebert is taking credit, once again, for federal funding that she ACTUALLY OPPOSED. Back in April, for example, Boebert was heaping praise upon herself for a $5.1 million federal grant for the Pueblo Community Health Center. That money was made available through a congressional appropriations process in 2022 that Boebert ignored.

Even President Biden has caught on to Boebert’s nonsense. Biden was speaking today in New Mexico about energy, infrastructure, and public lands issues when he used Boebert as an example of a Republican who opposes federal spending but rushes to take the credit when it gets approved anyway:

Oof! Dark Biden for the win!

The new CS Wind facility in Pueblo is expected to create at least 850 new jobs in the area. A large chunk of the funding that made this expansion possible came from the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, which Boebert indeed voted against.

As we’ve written before, Boebert knows that voters in her district really want her to focus on getting things done in CO-03 instead of playing around all day on social media and cheerleading for former President Donald Trump. But Boebert’s national MAGA base only donates money if they see her opposing stuff in Congress, which is how she ends up voting ‘NO’ in Washington D.C. and claiming credit for the same thing back in Colorado.

Voters in CO-03 are on to Boebert, however. They almost ousted her from office in 2022, and she’s now a top target for Democrats in 2024. This jig is just about up.

  1. Is there a comprehensive list of everything BoBo has voted against, abstained or just fucking forgot about and then taken credit for? It would be useful in a campaign to call her ass out at every turn.

  2. I love sarcasm.  I live for sarcasm.  My life is a sarcastic life.  Having said that, I think Biden's referring to Boebs as a "lady" is completely beyond the pale of acceptability.

(Surely we'll get a ruling on that?)

  3. Wow, this trashy, low-brow, bottom-feeding, no-class, proudly ignorant little know-nothing ditz is truly world-class dumb on a grand, colossal, breathtaking, epic scale.

I mean, just dumb. Deeply, profoundly disturbingly dumb. Dirt dumb. To-the-bone dumb. Magnitudes of dumb, oceans of dumb, legendary dumb.

And then there are those who vote for her…

Next I’m gonna tell you how I really feel.
