  1. The Colorado Supreme Court kicked the Proposition HH can down the road this morning, holding in accordance with prior case law that courts lack jurisdiction to decide the challenge brought by a plethora of wingers that HH and its referring legislation violate the single subject requirement of the state constitution unless and until the voters approve HH. The Court considered and rejected a challenge that HH violates the constitution's "clear expression" requirement in four ways.

    Ward v. State, 2023 CO 45, ___ P.3d ___.

  2. It’s almost as if it’s a metaphor for Ukraine?

Russia’s first lunar mission in 47 years ended in failure as Russia’s prized Luna-25 spacecraft spun out of control and crashed into the moon.

The problem occurred as the ship prepared for pre-landing orbit, underscoring the post-Soviet decline of a once mighty space program.

Russia's state space corporation, Roskosmos, said it had lost contact with the craft at 11:57 GMT on Saturday after a problem as the craft was shunted into pre-landing orbit. A soft landing had been planned for Monday.

The failure underscores the decline of Russia's space power since the glory days of Cold War competition when Moscow was the first to launch a satellite to orbit the Earth – Sputnik 1, in 1957 – and Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first man to travel into space in 1961.

  3. What if Trump decides to not turn himself in in Georgia? He'd end up with a warrant for his arrest for failure to appear, right?

We haven't had to deal with a former President with an active warrant yet. Why not do that too?

I'm curious what the Secret Service's policy is on contacting wanted folks. I bet they have leeway to ignore the warrant or just turn the person over to local authorities.

    1. His bail terms have been set; assuming he posts his $200,000 bond before his arrival at the Fulton jail for processing, his experience will be a mugshot, fingerprints, and a signed release before continuing on to an evening with Tucket Carlson. Arraignment hearing will be virtual.

  4. In the local Vietnamese cafe at lunch today, Fox News was locked in on the Hunter Biden "scandal". Handsome men and gorgeous blonde women commented on the possibilities of President Biden having to take the stand in Hunter's defense.

Somehow, they're ignoring the lack of evidence, the relative severity of the charges, and that some other former President T -something has four ( maybe five) indictments to answer now…

    1. Doesn't matter. The folks at Fox can read the room and know their audience. Factual information is secondary, at best. Often not even that important. What matters is being about to shout something simplistic that validates and reinforces the audiences preconceived beliefs and biases.

And if it can be provided by an attractive blond woman surrounded on each side by what appears to be two "knowledgeable" white, middle-aged men ("knowledgeable" because like Rick Perry, they wear smart glasses), all the more persuasive. The fox and her two friends.

      1. Fox's ratings went way down after liar-in-chief Tucker Carlson was fired a few months ago. They been trying to reclaim market share from Newsmax Media and other rightie entities ever since.

        1. I have to tip my hat to F.D.F.Q. and Tucker for airing the interview on the same night as the GOP debate. A mutual screwing over of Murdoch.
