  1. How to get Republicans to care about immigration laws:

Tell them we're creating gun regulations that mirror immigration laws.

Like, we can buy guns but only if we show up to a hearing in a court room first but the court is backed up for 2 years so we can't actually possess the gun until the hearing is ruled in our favor. Then, if we are found to be in possession of the gun before that, then we can never own any gun ever again.

  2. UNWRA manages the remaining infrastructure in the Gaza. From Josh Marshall at TPM.

And you know what one country won’t cut off cooperation with UNRWA? Israel.

As Anshel Pfeffer explains in this piece in Haaretz, Israel relies on and works closely with UNRWA because it’s the only infrastructure for providing basic services to much of the population in the occupied territories, in the West Bank but especially in Gaza. Even on the most cynical reasoning, it helps prevent the kind of social services collapse and breakdown of civil order which makes the occupation much more complicated and deadly. That is especially the case now because it’s the one path to getting food aid into the Gaza Strip. Otherwise the IDF would have to do it.

  3. Shift-refreshing every page to see comments is getting way too old. Probably time to bounce. Thanks for all the fish. Maybe I'll check back in a few months.

    1. We're still trying to solve this issue, which only seems to occur in certain browsers. We're sorry for your trouble and if you could let us know what browser you're using it will help us solve this problem.

  4. Per Colorado Sun: "Former University of Colorado President Bruce Benson, a longtime Republican donor, donated $6,600 — the maximum amount — to Flora, while his wife, Marcy, gave $3,300 in early December. Retired Denver businessman Ralph Nagel also gave Flora $6,600."

Over 13k to a certified crazy person. They should rename the Benson Hotel after someone who is not a statewide embarrassment after the Eastman debacle
