Great piece in today's WaPo on former Senator Norma Anderson and her part in the effort to prevent Trump's presence on the Colorado ballot.
She is realistic about her chances of success (I personally believe the decision is already a foregone conclusion in Trump's favor, SCOTUS will just backfill whatever legal justification they think will seem somewhat plausible).
re: "When Trump was the party’s presidential nominee in 2016 and 2020, she voted for third-party candidates. She quit the Republican Party in 2018 because of Trump but rejoined it in 2021. “I thought, you know, I’m the Republican. They aren’t,” she said."
Norma is a dreamer … and probably not the only one. I wonder if the coming elections for the US House nominees will cement in the notion of the strength of the MAGA in taking over the Republican line.
You are right. Norma may be a dreamer but she is not the only one. There is a lot of friction inside the Republican Party right now. I suppose the same can be said of the Democrats with some Muslim Americans distraught over the Israel/Hamas war. That said Republicans are mean about their differences which are personal rather than policy.
Colorado Sun also has a talk with Norma Anderson
Carman: Meet the 91-year-old lead respondent in the Trump Supreme Court ballot case
Thanks for the link, Harry. I would have missed this. You, too, JiD. I just skimmed the news on Monday
The psyop is working with Taylor getting album of the year.
Crazy town in the legislature
https://leg.colorado.gov/bills/hb24-1163
That bill is getting pulled though. I understand the uproar over its introduction, but the bill sponsor reported there were "people wishing death on me." I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that might have been a bit uncalled for.

My county, Anne Arundel, has a required registration of pets, but not the caretaker role. The big difference is no fees after you are 65 years old. That way being a cat lady is cheaper. I know compliance is horrible, but at least it tries. It also registers service dogs so you get a nice tag for the clanker collection to rattle away at 3am.
AKA … how to make a state of lawbreakers. I don't know what the compliance rate with the various municipal and county registrations is now …. but I doubt it comes close to the 50% mark.
I don't know if there is a better way already in use somewhere. I think there would be better approaches … such as a "tax" on animals getting veterinarian service, charged on the first visit each year.
Our cat lives inside our house. Does not go outside. Is not registered. Does not participate in voting.
I'm pretty damn sure if my cat could vote he'd vote Republican. He's a jackass.
Of course, cats are Republicans. Everyone knows that dogs have owners, but cats have staff. We are servants to two of the critters and I can tell you they think they’re superior to us. The kitty in my avatar is our dear departed Lilith and she was definitely queen of the house
Another brain fart piece of legislation.
Here's a suggestion: If you care about your pet, go to the vet and get Fido, Fluffy, or Spot tagged with one of those electronic tracking devices?
No need for another government agency to be brought in for pet management.
It was Ace Ventura's idea, on behalf of the Big Pet Detective lobby…
George Brauchler show replaced?
With what? Reruns of "Hee-Haw"?
Although no one associated with Brauchler's show had anything resembling the virtuoso abilities of Roy Clark.
I will second that. Virtuosity was no stranger to the Hee Haw stage. However. throwing shade at hillbillies is a low-class option enjoyed by oh, so many prejudiced and sanctimonious Yankees.
So…shows like Hee Haw become fodder.
Brauchler just filed to run for DA of th 23rd JD, which springs into existence on Jan. 7, 2025. If he gets the nomination, he'll coast into office, given how red the 23rd will be (Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties). https://coloradotimesrecorder.com/2024/02/george-brauchler-running-for-district-attorney/59577/
What is John Kellner doing? I figured he would run in the new 23 JD?
I thought so, too. But I imagine if he wants to stay in the DA's office in the 23rd, he may have made a deal with Brauchler to not run in exchange for being picked as a chief deputy DA.
Aurora Sentinel says John Kellner won't be running for 18th JD or the 23rd. I put the link on the Tuesday open thread.
