My thought of the day is Speaker Johnson, setting his beliefs aside, is a lot more savvy politician than I think a lot of people originally thought. As my late Irish Catholic Repulican godfather used to say " Not all Republicans are bad people". Yep.
That is true, I suppose, but we don't hear much from them (good ones) and they are NOT in charge. The Speaking Johnson is a bit too savvy and, in my view, all the more dangerous because of it. He is a fundamentalist Christian with strong ties to the Federalist Society and the Heritage Foundation. Transforming our government into a white, Christian, theocracy is at the top of his agenda.
I don't disagree with that Duke. I just think he is also doing some good things to quell the disfunctionality in the House, and he is governing. He outmanouvered the do nothing howler monkey wing. I'll give him credit for that.
Johnson's position is less envious than that of a cat herder, but so far he's been able to keep the ferals in line, if only by a whisker. (sorry, couldn'r resist)
I don't love him, either, Duke, but if he's not crazy enough for the Chaos Caucus I'd hate to see who they'd prefer. The risk was worth it to see the Blond Dimwit get her ass handed to her. Maybe the crazies will settle down a bit now. 🤞
Seeker Johnson may be in a position to have greatness thrust upon him.
Meanwhile, the House yesterday voted to extend the authorization of the FAA for a whole week, to May 17, since the Senate is not done with their bill (which has significant differences from what the House passed). And over in the Senate … Sen. Ted Cruz is a leading sponsor, trying to convince his colleagues that an FAA bill is NOT the place to park all of their attempts to add baubles like Josh Hawley's ‘Kids Online Safety Act.’
Is this Trump soliciting a bribe?
Of course, while the notoriously transactional Trump has named his price, it, like his ego, is wildly over-inflated.
