For readers who didn’t go to these kinds of parties in your adolescence, “rave culture” got going in the early to middle 1990s as endless loops of what would otherwise be headache-fuel electronic music converged with the rise in popularity of a drug known as “Ecstacy,” which we’re told that today the kids call “Molly,” and made this loosely-defined “music” listenable much the same way any unpleasant experience can be made temporarily tolerable with euphoria-inducing drugs. Other traditional psychedelic drugs like LSD and mushrooms are also to be found in this party culture, but Ecstacy was and remains the drug of choice.
Does "The Danny G's Band" do a bunch of Chemical Brothers covers? Is the phrase "Danny G" actually a clever nickname for some new drug even Huey Lewis didn't want? What kind of mushroom does Ben's put on their pizza?
The right answer to any of these questions still won't get me interested in attending, however.
A "rave," carefully scheduled for 6 to 9 pm.
Nice that they waited until the Diner's early bird specials for senior citizens closed.
What’s intriguing is do any of the Weld County Republicans supporting Project 2025, and wanting to impose a Christian Nationalist theocracy on the country, understand that “rave” is somewhat the same as “orgy?” Drugs aren’t the only things happening at these events.
Looks to me like the creators of this event are trying to appeal to a demographic with which they are unfamiliar. Maybe they are trying to attract some new voters from a cultural group not known for significant participation in Republican party politics.
Given the age, demographic, and general disposition of anyone who would attend this, I'm guessing it's going to look a lot more like a polka party/square dance than anything resembling a rave.
