That’s the latest highly consequential late Friday afternoon news from Ernest Luning at the Colorado Springs Gazette’s political blog, a restraining order has been issued shutting down tomorrow’s scheduled meeting of Colorado GOP central committee members in Brighton to consider removing chairman Dave “Let’s Go Brandon” Williams and his leadership allies at the behest of El Paso County GOP deputy chair Todd Watkins and Jeffco GOP chair Nancy Pallozzi:
This court decision effectively rendering any vote that takes place tomorrow null and void comes after a dramatic day in which nearly every Colorado Republican congressional candidate led by Gabe Evans called on Dave Williams to resign today or be removed at this meeting tomorrow. Luning also reports that Lauren Boebert, who herself directly benefitted from Williams’ decision to endorse primary candidates, hypocritically calling on Williams to “reach out to candidates and organizations throughout Colorado” and “mend bridges” or be replaced.
Boebert said in her statement Friday that Republicans “in Colorado and nationally” will have to consider changing state GOP leadership if Williams doesn’t demonstrate a commitment from the party to support Republican nominees, whether or not they align on every issue.
“I stand ready to publicly help and provide support to Republicans up and down the ballot, regardless of whether or not I agree with them on every issue,” Boebert said. “If Chairman Williams can’t do the same and refuses to show candidates he will, Republicans in Colorado and nationally will look in a different direction for leadership over the final 100 days.”
Keep in mind that was Boebert’s primary opponent in CO-04 Richard Holtorf, now a candidate for Williams’ job, who first called for Williams to resign citing the party’s favoritism toward Boebert in that race. Boebert’s about-face betrayal of Williams is a sign that the opposition is intensifying, and Boebert wants to rewrite some of the details of her part of this story before Williams is sent packing. It’s also a signature Boebert backstab that Boebert’s former friends Sherronna Bishop and Tina Peters will instantly recognize.
Exactly when fate catches up to Williams, of course, is anybody’s guess–much more so this afternoon than it was this morning. Until the Colorado Republican Party’s leadership decides it’s time to consider Williams’ future, they make the rules everyone must follow.
A judge just said so.

Hmmm … I wonder if there are any appellate court judges working late today ….
This guy is the gift that keeps giving. Narcissistic character prevents him from representing the party. It's like having our own sledgehammer throwing demolition team breaking down load bearing struts while inside the building.
With all the events going on now, like Harris running for president and energizing Democrats/Left-leaning/anti-Trump centrists, Dave Williams/the state party making national news for all the wrong reasons while draining the coffers of the party (to the point that most Republican candiates are self-funding or receving help from out of state) and a balllot measure meant to protect abortion in the state coming this election, I'm hard-pressed to imagine that the Colorado GOP will have a great time. Even if Williams and his icky allies are removed, the damage has already been done and the path has been charted. Reversal now would take years to do, and by that time the state party will have descended back into far-right lunacy and even if not, that's no guarantee that things will get better for them or that they'll never return to this state of affairs again in the future.
It isn't looking good for the "sensible Republican" wing of the GOP nowadays, is it? As you suggest, if all the crazies were to go away tomorrow, it would still take years to rebuild a viable, competitive, political party anywhere near the party of Reagan. A lot of people will never trust a Republican again. It is the party of greed and grievance, more so than ever before. It is the Oligarchs' party now.
Only the best people. Williams (technically the Colorado Republican Central Committee), is represented by former Arapahoe County District Court Judge, Natalie Chase. In 2021, Chase was publicly censored by the Commission on Judicial Discipline, and agreed to resign. She admitted, amongst other things, using the n-word, expressing her opinion that all lives matter, and having court personnel provide personal, non-work related assistance.
Chase was an abysmal judge and a racist. She got off way too easy, as most resigning judges do. If they resign, they just get censured by the Supreme Court. She has no discipline against her law license. She should. No mention of her disgrace on her firm’s website.

Yes, but it wouldn't surprise me to see her as Ken Paxton's Deputy AG in the second Trump administration. Or at least, the US Attorney for Colorado.
We live in strange times.
The fascist right has much stronger fascist attorneys they can turn to than Chase.
Yes, but the A Team all has had their licenses pulled: Jenna Ellis, Flatulence Giuliani, Crackpot Eastman, and Kraken Powell.
Randy Corporon, Scott Gessler, Barry Arrington, and a bunch of others are more likely to be the darlings of the trump and half-trump team than Chase.
That's right, there is Honey Badger, the architect of what was ultimately the successful strategy in the ballot disqualification case.
But Gessler probably wouldn't take the job unless they let him moonlight in private practice.
