Caption This Photo Of Dan Woog Lost In A Cornfield

In today’s edition of ideas that sound good in the staff meeting but don’t work out in the real world, here’s former GOP Rep. Dan Woog, running again in House District 19 after losing the seat to outgoing Rep. Jennifer Parenti in 2022, in a cornfield doing what seems to be a spoof of the 1989 Kevin Costner film Field of Dreams:

If you’re too young to remember the movie Woog is referencing, we’ll forgive you lest we date ourselves, too. Unfortunately for Woog, his low-budget spoof video was launched on social media platforms that play with the audio muted by default. That means the final 10 seconds of this thirty-second video once you’ve landed on it shows this very odd moment without any explanation of, you know, what’s happening:

“Hi, I’m Dan Woog. I may look completely lost in this cornfield, and that’s because I am!”

“I ate some mushrooms on a cow patty and haven’t slept in three days!”

“There are furries in this cornfield and nobody leaves until we find them!”

If we ever saw a man wandering a cornfield with that look on his face, we’d be torn between attempting a rescue and walking away quietly.

We hope he made it out eventually.
