  1. Aw jeez you betcha, Gov. Walz' speech rocked in the free world!!! I fear that Democrats might have finally figured out a few ways to reach ordinary working Americans, not just in a patronizing focus-group-tested talking-down manner, and I think all Walz is doing is acting naturally.

  2. Always liked that quote, and it resonates with yesterday's speeches from Oprah and Tim Walz and others. I don't disagree with HRC's "basket of deplorables", but the way out is still to be a good example, a good neighbor, and a leader who considers all of the people of the nation/state/county/town as required.

    1. Laser focus this convention as portraying Republicans as neighbors and Trump as a dimwit.

Can't wait to hear Neguse this Sunday at the Gilpin Dems Art Gallery Fundraiser in Central City. It's from 2-5. It ought to be a fired up affair.

  3. trumpery

    /ˈtrʌmpəri/

    Other forms: trumperies

Pretty or fancy objects that are completely useless can be called trumpery. Your huge collection of animal salt and pepper shakers is nothing but trumpery.

Trumpery is typically fun to look at, but not very practical or worth very much. Many collectible objects are trumpery, like the dolls your grandma buys to display throughout her house or the cheap plastic jewelry your sister always spends her allowance on. Another kind of trumpery is equally useless or worthless speech, whether it's written or spokenTrumpery comes from the Old French tromperie, with its root of tromper, "to deceive."

Good god – this has been a word for centuries. Never knew.

  4. Don’t remember if anyone mentioned the Homelessness report.  All is not wonderful in Mike Johnston’s Denver (or the rest of the metro area).

PRESS RELEASE: ANNUAL POINT-IN-TIME COUNT SHOWS AN INCREASE OF PEOPLE EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS IN DENVER METRO AREA

Homelessness increased by 10% this year, driven primarily by a 12% rise in shelter usage. While fewer people are experiencing homelessness for the first time, the number of chronically homeless individuals rose by 16%. The number of homeless families has also grown significantly, from 2,101 to 3,136. While Point in Time data can fluctuate year to year due to methodological changes and varying conditions, it remains a valuable tool when considered alongside other data sources. Rebecca Mayer, Interim Executive Director at MDHI, noted, “Behind every data point lies the reality of individuals and families facing the hardship of homelessness. It’s crucial to remember that our unhoused neighbors deserve the stability and security of a safe place to call home.”
