Arizona GOP is Now Sending Direct Mail in TWO Colorado Congressional Districts

  • by: Colorado Pols

Welp. This story just keeps getting more bizarre.

As we’ve noted in this space, the Arizona Republican Party has now sent two different direct mail pieces into CO-08 in support of Republican Gabe Evans as he tries to unseat incumbent Democratic Rep. Yadira Caraveo. As you are no doubt aware, Arizona is not in Colorado (or vice versa).

Nevertheless, the Arizona Republican Party keeps sending mailers into Colorado — and now they’re also including support for Republican Jeff Hurd in CO-03:

As we’ve written before, this is a new phenomenon that we have not previously encountered in Colorado.

Why is the Arizona Republican Party spending money helping Republican candidates in a state that is not Arizona?

Who is paying for this?

Is the Colorado Republican Party so completely incompetent that the state party in Arizona has had to take over?

Political reporters, assemble!

  1. Given that Arizona is a swing state in the Presidential election, has a potentially pivotal open senate seat, and two toss up House seats, were I an Arizona Republican, I'd be a bit irritated that my party leadership is looking for opportunities outside the state to spend money.

  2. Is the Colorado Republican Party so completely incompetent that the state party in Arizona has had to take over?

Do you know who the chair of the COGOP is?

  3. Super-PAC Out-sourcing.

As I said in the previous post, these mailers are outsourced to a few marketing firms, in a few states. It doesn’t mean that the Arizona GOP itself is sending mailers to Colorado.

The “paid for by” is merely the mechanism by which Super-Pacs are able to get cheap postal rates.

Something similar is happening in states all over the country, mailers from other states hitting Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, etc

  4. Hurd's an "outsider" alright, backed by Beltway Boss Speaker Johnson with out-of-state party-backroom spending propping up this AFP-crafted great-milque-toast-hope
