  1. I think Harris will take all 7 battleground states comfortably.

I do think we'll be watching until the last vote is counted in Florida & Texas to see how they go – Presidental & Senate (helps that both Senate candidates are disliked even by their base).

  2. "I think Harris will take all 7….." A little early in the day to be pounding Bud Lite down, isn't it?

Seriously, I hope you're right. Time to get Vladimir Putin's puppets and syncophants out of US politics, beginning with the orange haired DEI candidate.

    1. Ok, I've been insulted numerous times on this site. It goes with the territory. But there are limits. You are way out of bounds here and I demand an apology!!!

To claim I dring Bud Lite?????

      I can't believe you've stooped this low.

      1. Oh, my! I am afraid I agree with you on both counts. I think this isn't really going to be as close as the polls indicate. She might take all 7.

However, the implication that you might drink Bud Lite is a little over the line. Maybe you want to rethink that part, CHB.

        1. Nope. MAGAs hate Bud Lite because of that commercial that had a trans person. It's up to you progressives to show the MAGAs how they're wrong. In this issue only, David, you're in with the progs.

Since it's almost time for Sunday Night Football, and I'm neither a MAGA nor a progressive, I think I'll open one of the Fat Tires in my fridge instead of the originally planned bottle of wine (from Carlson Vineyards in Palisade). Enjoy.

              1. That's the version I recall as well (and agree with the sentiment).  I do, however, have a weakness for Coors Herman Joseph Private Reserve.  I hope that doesn't make me a fascist.

          1. Mine was not a political comment, by the way.

While David and I have disagreed about many things over the years, I believe him to be a discerning individual with a slightly above average set of standards ( That said, I have never witnessed his table manners). He does not strike me as a man who would drink such crappy beer. MAGA opinions aside.

  3. Good Golly Miss Molly, I'm seeing tweets saying Harris is outpolling the Orange Mush in …. wait for it … IOWA!  If that holds true on Tuesday, we'll all be yellin' "a-wop-bop-a-loo-bop, a-lop-bam-boom!"

  4. Hat/tip Mahablog.

So last night, it’s been reported, Trump entertained his rally crowd in Milwaukee by mimicing a lewd act with his microphone holder. I understand there are videos of this all over the web. I am not going to look for them. Tom Nichols writes at The Atlantic that Donald Trump needs help. Normally if a 77-year-old man is behaving that inappropriately, one would take him to a neurologist. And keep him out of public view. Let’s just hope he keeps his clothes on when there are cameras around.

  5. The Kakistocracy. Noah Smith.

Good summary of all the people who hate Trump.

I can’t think of another public figure in modern America who was so hated by their ex-employees. Can you?

So how do we explain this near-universal rejection of Trump by the people who worked with him most closely? I guess one explanation is that they’ve all been infected with the dreaded Woke Mind Virus. But it’s unclear why working for Donald Trump would cause almost everyone to be exposed to the Woke Mind Virus, when working for, say, JD Vance, or Ron DeSantis, or any other prominent right-wing figure does not seem to produce such an infection.

Of course, not everyone who worked for Trump has abandoned and denounced him. Rudy Giuliani, who is now under indictment in several different states, is still among the faithful. Michael Flynn, who was fired by Obama for insubordination and then removed by Trump for improper personal dealings with the Russian government, is still on board, and is now threatening to unleash the “gates of Hell” on Trump’s political enemies. Peter Navarro, the economist¹ who served four months in prison for defying a Congressional subpoena, is still a Trump fan. And so on.

You may perhaps notice a pattern among the relatively few people who are still on board the Trump Train from his first term. They are all very shady people. I don’t think this is a coincidence; I think it’s something systematic about Donald Trump’s personality and his method of rule.

    1. WAPO (yep, I’ve still got access until my paid subscription runs out) set out to find attitudes among Trump’s CABINET and published in early August.  42 in total.  15 refused to say if they are backing Trump.  3 have been VERY vocal and said they would NOT back Trump (Bolton, Esper, & Pence),

According to (all truthy) Wikipedia, the list has grown and now is :

      • Mike Pence
      • John Bolton
      • Dan Coats
      • Mark Esper
      • Jim Mattis
      • John F. Kelly
      • H. R. McMaster

Worth mentioning — Trump lost 14 of his Cabinet members during his Sad!-ministration — basically 3x the number of Obama or Clinton’s first term.

    1. Am I sure?  Of course not.  I'm like every OTHER prognosticator, reaching for a future …. and I claim no special insight into Maine.  I've got a bit more insight into NE-02, having lived next to it for 6 years, and close enough in Iowa for another 4.

But I do like the image of a solid NE blue.
