  1. From Capitol Police Chief J. Thomas Manger via the WaPo:

“I just think that there’s a line that you cross when you assault a police officer, injure a police officer, kill a police officer, that it should be looked at very carefully, because pardoning someone who does something like that sends a message to every single law enforcement officer in this country that you may or may not really matter, depending on someone’s political outlook or depending on if what you were involved with involves the wrong person’s family.”

I still shake my head at random times, whether in public or in private, at how so many voters could have forgiven the insurrection and gave him four more years in office. But some Capitol Police officers must be going through some serious inner turmoil, given that they'll be called upon to protect him after facing such grave danger just 4 years ago.

  2. WOTD: "the heroic story of Melania Trump’s rise from post-Titoist Yugoslavia to trendsetter in the field of arm-candying." Josh Marshall at TPM.

Apparently Amazon is funding a biopic on Melania Trump. Sheesh!

    1. CBS story says:

The incoming first lady is an executive producer on the film directed by Brett Ratner, who was infamously cast out of the Warner Brothers studio after being accused of sexual misconduct in 2017.

Amazon said in a statement that the documentary offers an "unprecedented behind-the-scenes look" at Melania Trump and a "truly unique story." Filming began in December, and the project is slated for release at some point during the second half of this year.

How much does an "executive producer" for a vanity bio pic earn?

        1. You're right Mr. Folds, but it will also be enough for her to do something most of us could only dream of. Bezos money going into it, with fealty-in-exchange-for-tax-elimination at stake.

  3. No police died due to the overhyped J6 incident but police executed one unarmed protestor in cold blood.  J6 was a wake up call to the criminal abuses by the Democrat Party which led and abetted summers of hate and destruction.  Blinded by ambition and hate rabid Democrats failed to comprehend they had exceeded the bounds American tolerance and were summarily slapped down on November 5th 2024.

    1. Yeah, that "execution" was by law enforcement guarding the door to the chamber while Representatives were still in place.  AS USA Today describes

San Diego Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt begins crawling through a hole rioters have broken in the glass of a door barricaded with antique furniture. Members of Congress are still evacuating. After Babbitt ignores repeated orders to back down, a Capitol Police officer fires a single round, fatally striking her left shoulder.

      By contrast:

A Capitol police officer died of strokes the day after and four others have taken their own lives since then. More than 150 officers were injured, many permanently.
