Why Doesn't Anyone Want to Host Our Nazi Keynote Speaker?

Steve Bannon says “Heil-o” to the crowd at CPAC in February

The Colorado Republican Party is such a cartoonish disaster that it would need to undergo a deep cleaning just to be able to call itself a “mess.” It’s no wonder that the GOP is having a hard time finding a venue willing to get in the mud along with the rest of the party faithful.

As Kyle Clark of 9News reports in an entertaining fashion, the Colorado Republican Party is still trying to secure a location for its big annual fundraising dinner on March 28 because hotels and event centers along the Front Range are not too keen on hosting podcast host and former Donald Trump adviser Steve Bannon.

Republicans are blaming some sort of invisible left-wing conspiracy for their venue troubles, conveniently ignoring the fact that their keynote speaker is apparently a Nazi.

Here’s more from Westword:

The Antlers Hotel, run by the Wyndham Resorts & Hotels chain, confirmed that the “Golden Age Gala” gala at which Bannon was slated to speak has been canceled — only ten days before it was scheduled to take place — but didn’t offer a reason why.

Colorado Springs television station KRDO 13 reported late on March 17 that the Colorado GOP learned of the cancellation after being told by would-be hotel guests, who’d received emails from the hotel after booking rooms for that night.

The Colorado GOP is was still selling tickets to its “Golden Age” Gala. While the location is listed as “TBA,” it will be at a former Boot Barn in the Springs now dubbed Phil Long Music Hall, which has been used for other large Republican gatherings. [Pols emphasis] Prices range from $150 for a single general admission ticket to $14,000 for a table for ten; attending a meet-and-greet with Bannon could cost as much as $1,500.

Kyle Clark noted the hilarity of the “Boot Barn” location, since it was at a similar venue in late 2022 when right-wingers assailed Colorado Republican Party leadership by calling them “whores and asswipes” at a rally in the Denver Tech Center.

Wherever he ends up speaking, Bannon’s appearance in Colorado will certainly attract attention from news outlets given his recent claims that President Trump is planning to seek a third term in the White House…nevermind the illegality of such a plan. From The Hill newspaper:

Former White House strategist Steve Bannon leaned into President Trump’s aspirations for a third term, suggesting Trump will run and win in 2028 while denying his own presidential ambitions.

“I’m a firm believer that President Trump will run and win again in 2028, so I’ve already endorsed President Trump,” Bannon told NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo. “A man like this comes along once every century, if we’re lucky. We’ve got him now.”…

When Cuomo asked Bannon, who has not fully ruled out his own 2028 White House bid, how he plans to secure another term for Trump, the former strategist said the wheels are already in motion.

“We’re working on it. I think we’ll have, I think we’ll have a couple of alternatives,” he said Tuesday. “Let’s say that. We’ll see, we’ll see, we’ll see what the definition of term limit is.” [Pols emphasis]

Trump has repeatedly teased the idea of seeking a third term as President, something that is forbidden by Amendment 22 of the U.S. Constitution.

The State GOP’s big fundraiser will take place on the same weekend that the party will choose a new leader to replace Dave Williams, the former state representative who spent the last two years looting what little money existed in the party coffers. Williams is not seeking another term as State Party Chair while he reportedly waits to be offered some sort of job in the Trump administration.

  1. Bannon presumes trump is going to make it to 2028.  I'm hoping not.  Bannon too.  wormfood is the best use of those two bloviated windbags
