From the Fremont County Republicans Lincoln Dinner, the Caon City Daily Record reports:
Congressman Joel Hefley led the evening with a call to keep campaigns positive.
“I will never again support a Republican who attacks his Republican opponent in a primary campaign,” Hefley said to the cheers of the crowd. “I want to hear about you, your vision, your dreams I do not want to hear about your opponent.
If youre in a primary, forget who you?re running against and tell me about you,” Hefley said.
So does this mean we can put Hefley down in the “not supporting a Republican for Governor” column? (h/t to DemNotes.)

Well, let’s just say Iron Mike will have trouble in El Paso County if he ever runs for office 😉
Holtzman takes another one in the balls…
Interesting, I seem to recall a few years back Hefley got to give a little speech to a group of El Paso County GOP-ers to introduce President Bush’s RNC speech. Instead of talking about Bush or his agenda or even the RNC for that matter, Hefley decided to launch a long attack on a number of Republican federal officials he considered to be RINOs.
Good career tip… Thanks Voyageur. I guess I’ll stay here in the 4th.
This is the end for Hef tomorrow will be the day he calls it quits. Let the games begin.
