State Sen. Doug Lamborn, one of the frontrunners to succeed Rep. Joel Hefley in CD-5, announced two new endorsements yesterday: El Paso County Commissioners Wayne Williams and Douglas “TABOR Daddy” Bruce.

looks like Lamborn is building up some serious steam… good for Doug. He’s got my support.
AAAAAAHHH!
Two of the men I despise most in Colorado politics! Blech! Now I know I am definitely supporting Jon Anderson.
No too surprising to see this, but I don?t think if it adds much value to what he already has. Lamborn already has a bunch of endorsements and people who vote based on that probably were going to vote for him anyway.
What is going on with Rivera? I thought he was going to announce last week, but no one seems to know what the story is. Is he sitting around trying to figure out if Rivera2006 will be a Congressional or Gubernatorial race?
Rivera announced today that he is announcing on Thursday that he is running for Congress.
Yeah, he is announcing on Thursday that he is petitioning on to the ballot instead of going the caucus route. What a loser!
While a lot of the activists hate Doug Bruce there are quite a few rank and file Republicans who like what he has to say – especially in El Paso County.
I am actually suprised that Wayne Williams came out and supported Lamborn when Duncan Bremer was in the race.
Robert – I agree, when is Rivera going to announce?
These will cost Lamborn votes. Hefley supporting Crank, NOW THAT is an endorsement!
Wackos,
We get it, you like Crank. I don?t know if Hefley will endorse Crank. That could open a can of worms with Crank?s lobbying. There is still a lot of disclosing that Crank is going to have to do to make people comfortable in that area. Given that Hefley would be primarily who Crank lobbied to, I am not sure that Hefley?s endorsement is going to do much help for him. Besides, Crank named his son after Hefley, of course Hefley likes him.
a,
That surprised me also that Williams came out for Lamborn not Bremer. Not sure what the reasoning is except that Bremer might be going the opposite way of the other candidates and staying away from endorsements. His website is up duncanbremer.org, and it does not list any endorsements. Lamborn and Bremer (and probably Crank) are both fundamentally the same on the issues so they both align with Williams. It is a little surprising that it went that way though. On the Rivera thing, my guess is that he wanted to wait until the bad press he got last week passed over. He will not go the assembly rout because he would not stand a chance there, so what difference does a week make to wait out the storm that surrounded him last week (some sort of scandal in the city).
I stand corrected on Hefley…
JOHN ANDERSON RECEIVES ENDORSEMENTS FROM ELECTED OFFICIALS AND BUSINESS LEADER
John Anderson, former El Paso County Sheriff, who is seeking the Republican Party nomination for Colorado’s Fifth Congressional District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, is pleased to announce that he has received endorsements from two elected officials in the Fifth District and one business leader in Colorado Springs.
John’s campaign for Colorado’s Fifth Congressional District has been endorsed by:
Jeri Howells, Mayor, City of Fountain (She also is a former El Paso County Commissioner, who served as liaison to the Sheriff’s Office during Sheriff Anderson’s eight years in office.)
When endorsing Anderson, Mayor Howells stated, “While John was Sheriff, I served as liaison between the Board of County Commissioners and Sheriff’s Office. During that time he transformed the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office into one of the premier law enforcement agencies in the country. I found Sheriff Anderson to be well-respected amongst his peers, which is confirmed by the significant number of partnerships he helped form with other agencies in the region.”
Ed Norden, County Commissioner, Fremont County
Joel Midkiff, Business Executive and Civic Leader in Colorado Springs
John is grateful for these endorsements, as well as the confidence these three individuals have in John’s ability to effectively serve the citizens of the Fifth Congressional District.
TABOR Daddy Bruce?????? You dare defile the sainted memory of Daddy Bruce by letting pairing him with Douglas Bruce? A pox on ColoradoPols and may Rep. Welker former adorn your masthead.
Frank (or Camille or John),
I think that 99% of the people in the 5th CD could care less who Joel Midkiff endorses. The two endorsement lists that your campaign has rolled out have been unimpressive.
Lamborn rolls out Williams and Bruce while you roll out a couple county sheriffs. Crank rolls out Hefley and you roll out Jeri Howells.
Now I am sure that Howells and Norden are great and that some people may actually support Anderson because of their endorsements, but you have to admit that they pale in comparison to the endorsements the other folks are getting.
Robert – My guess is that Lamborn got Williams to commit before Bremer made his decision to get into the race. Wayne is likely just sticking to the commitment he made and I can respect him for that. I agree that Rivera will not go the caucus route, he would get killed.
a (Jeff or Jim or Amy)
I am neither of those people you mentioned and it is not my campaign. I simply offer that Anderson’s campaign is steady and deserves a fair shake just like they all do. The public deserves to know all aspects of all candidates to make a proper choice. You should leave personal slamming of anyone’s endorsees off this discussion and stick to the issues.
