This is definitely a wise decision, and good news for the Democratic Party. Kennedy’s still going to have a rough ride against the pseudo-incumbent Hillman, but she’s definitely the stronger candidate.
How is she the better choice? Turner had a frickin PhD in economics. I have to admit I am disappointed that Turner stepped aside for the teacher’s union choice. Now, Hillman beats Cary on qualifications. It wasn’t that way with Turner. Maybe all of our statewide candidates could come from Denver…oh wait, thay already are.
The technical term for Hillman, PR, is the “former-pseudo incumbent.” Don’t forget, he’s promised to step down then Coffman comes back from Iraq in April. Hillman will thus run as the former acting treasurer, an even weaker position than that of an appointed incumbent. That’s not to dismiss Mark’s political skills, which are formidable. But it is a damned awkward position to be in.

“Now, Hillman beats Cary on qualifications.” What? Does Hillman even have a college degree? How could he possibly have more qualifications that the person who wrote the C&D compromise, Amendment 23, and she has more experience with Colorado’s cash flow than Hillman.
Kennedy is going to beat Hillman. Not by much, but she’ll beat him.
Come on, Hillman opposed fixing the biggest problem facing the state, and votes against the state budget. Doesn’t that make him qualified to manage the states finances?????
No, Joe. That alone does not make him qualified.
