Not that we ever really thought she would run, but we hear that Rep. Alice Madden has told friends that she will absolutely not run for congress in CD-2 in 2008. Madden would have had a tough time raising money and support against Joan Fitz-Gerald when they both have a similar fundraising base.

where Madden goes next since she’s term limited. Does she live in Tupa’s Senate District? He’s out in ’08.
Madden is a great public servant and legislator. She has always seemed to be more genuine, concerned, and all-around better representative than Fitz-Gerald.
Oh well, Joan will be a good congresswoman as well I suppose.
Fitz-Gerald is a disaster. Madden would have been wonderful. Everyone loses on this one. The only good thing about having Fitz-Gerald in Congress will be to have her out of our great state. God speed.
Madden would make a phenomenal congresswoman. She has always had the priorities of her district in mind, unlike Fitz-Gerald who continues to bow to special interest groups. I have serious doubts that she’ll run for state senate, she’s way too talented to remain constrained by the state capitol.
Madden will be sorely missed. Her public service has been amazing and her ego doesn’t get in the way of good decisions like several other electeds. And the House Majority office has the most competent and considerate staff – thanks to Alice. Senate staff…….hmmm
The Senate staff is a disaster just like the Senators. The House members and the house staff are a different (and better) bunch. No question.
