Jay Fawcett leads local policy center

  • by: Zappatero

CoCo:

“Grid lock on the national political front presents communities like Colorado Springs with an opportunity to solve problems locally,” said Fawcett. “The need for solutions to problems confronting the Rocky Mountain Region has never been greater and our approach seeks to solve local problems with local non-partisan thinking.”

I’ll say. Even Springs voters are getting tired of the same-old, same-old Republican playbook.

“In many ways, Colorado Springs is a big city that still sees itself as a village,” said Fawcett. “By taking a reasoned, researched, and non-partisan approach, we can come up with solutions that will help our community continue to grow and prosper.”

Jay will be discussing the initiative at Colorado Confidential on Tuesday, May 8 at 2 p.m. MDT for a live Q&A on the center’s future plans.

He may even be more productive and innovative here at the local level than he would’ve been as our congressman in DC.

  1. Republicans and Democrats alike agree on Doug Lamborn’s being an embarrassment to the 5th CD.  Anything that reminds them of that fact is a positive.  Jay Fawcett would have been the better choice, in my humble opinion.  Let him keep the dialogue open to people of all parties and maybe in 2008 we’ll have seen the last of Doug Lamborn!

    1. the people of CD5 do NOT want Jay Fawcett in their district.
40-1 shot and that is probably being nice.
It is time for Jay to face facts. He lost before and will lose again if he tries running.
Maybe he can try another more “liberal” district.
The great CD5 District wants Doug. They do not want a liberal. Get over it already.

      1. I was Jay Fawcett’s Finance Director for his bid. Jay is a great guy and we did a great job but the nuts in the Springs want him. Jay is doing great work with other issues in the Springs.  The Springs is going to change… it is slower than the rest of Colorado but one day there will be a Dem.

        1. What?
“it is slower than the rest of Colorado but one day there will be a dem.”
          What?
Jay is not wanted in Colorado Springs. Maybe in Denver or Boulder but not the great city of Colorado Springs.
He is a 40/1 shot. And that is on a good day.
Doug Lamborn is our man. We don’t need Jay.
          OK?
          Colorado Springs is RED.
          And will ALWAYS BE BLUE!
          Count on it.

      2. that’s why he’s working on policy solutions to problems the zero-tax, hate-guvmint wingers have let linger for so many years.

You said: the people of CD5 do NOT want Jay Fawcett in their district.

Now are you saying he can’t live here, or are you unable to write a complete sentence?

  2. Jay is an amazing political voice.  Need I remind all of you, he was the only person in the entire race who called the effects of the war with 100% accuracy.  AND he was on top of the Rumsfeld debacle when the entire field was yelling support the President and the Sec Def.

Jay will be a great non partisan voice.  He is bright, articulate and has a killer dry sense of humor – Something El Paso County is in deep need of.

So please, look at what a person brings to the table, then go look in the mirror and ask, “What have I done to make El Paso County a place that people don’t laugh at?” If your answer is blog on POLS, perhaps you should consider doing more.

    Just my opinion!

    1. Fawcett does a good “bi-partisan” job with his new job, more power to him.  I don’t think it will help his chances as being a congressman from CD-5, but we can always use good policy, no matter where it comes from.

As for the question “what have I done to make Colorado Springs a place that people don’t laugh at?”, if that’s code for “what have I done to make Colorado Springs a liberal hub like Boulder and Denver?” then I haven’t done jack crap.  And I’m fine with that.

      1. Code for liberalism…  no.
        Code for:
        1. Even the Republicans are laughing at the current leadership, except for Former Rep Hefley – I am sure he is still “disgusted”.
        2. The school board debacle (I love that word, “Debacle”. It just rolls off your tongue)
        3. Overly Religious Right Gay Minister does Meth, hangs out with a male prostitute and is made straight and drug free in three weeks (Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien and Dave found that laughable)
        4. Some may even find Doug Bruce humorous

I could go on, but that is enough for now.

        1. Fair enough.  I’ve had a couple of chuckles myself over almost everything you listed (the exception being the school board).  Glad you weren’t speaking in code….

Just wait until after November of 2008-we’ll see how many “Dougs” are still elected officials in El Paso county.

          Go Crank!

          1. Indeed, there seems to be something about the name “Doug” that makes someone an embarrassment to the Republican Party in El Paso county.  A few years ago, it was just one isolated incident.  Now there are two confirmed cases, and we should start looking out for the pattern.
