Our stellar Congressman from the 5th District eloquently articulating important details about, um, err… well dammit just watch the clip. http://www.youtube.c…
Asked in this clip by C-SPAN “What do you need to do over the next two years to get re-elected in 2008?” our own lead-tongued twinkle-toed Doug had this to say:
“Well like probably every other Representative here in this building I’m going to be working hard to serve the needs of my constituents, that means a lot to me to be able to help people and frankly what’s good for policy is good for politics and what’s good for the constitutents is good for politics but I’ll let the politics chips fall where they will I’m just going to help the people and let everything take care of itself.”
Ummm, really? THAT’S what you’re going to do to get re-elected? Who writes for this guy? I would be embarrassed to be a staffer.
No mention of the four military installations in his district? No mention of healthcare reform? No mention of border security? No mention about what committee he’ll be serving on? Not one specific detail?
All 47 people in the 5th CD who still think this guy is good for our community should go get their warpaint on cause I got a feeling we’re about to see a rumble for this seat. (And yes… I would support Jeff Crank.)

You found a CSPAN video from before he was even sworn in, and he’s not talking about border security? What a travesty.
I realize that the well is running dry here, but I’m not sure how insulting Lamborn for not mentioning his committee assignments when they hadn’t even been handed out to Republicans yet is going to sway anyone to vote for your boy .
Let me give you an example of what he should have said…
But guess what Blah… he didn’t. He fumbled the question. And when he failed to get a spot on the House Armed Services Committee even though he was “next in line” he dropped the pass. And that is why we’ll see Lamborn benched in 2008.
And then you’ll never have an issue with anything he says. Which is especially (and I mean especially) important on a CSPAN interview that aired 4:19AM locally five months ago.
Are you going to defend his statement or just tap-dance? I’m just curious. I would write for Lamborn if I thought he could deliver. Hell… as far as you know I DO write for Lamborn and he (clearly) DOESN’T deliver.
And does the time REALLY matter? He’s a public servant and everything he says matters.
Sure the video is from before he was sworn in but isn’t that right about the time a good leader is articulating his vision for the future? You’re right about the timing of the committee assignments… but what do you think a smart politician would do prior to the assignments? Well getting on national TV and talking about your comprehensive agenda for the military and the important position of the military in your community and your plan for working across the aisle to ensure that soldiers get body armor and tanks get gas is not a bad place to start, right?
By my count there have been FIVE open Republican seats on the House Armed Services committee since Lamborn was elected… and on this last one where he was allegedly next in line he apparantly didn’t receive even one of the 28 Republican committee votes.
I always forget that it’s “U before E, except after SL”.
that, given the opportunity, Lamborn would have spoken about what he considered the MOST important thing he could do for either the nation or his district. And he chooses a veterans cemetery. I’m not against veterans cemeteries, but I don’t think a bill is even necessary fo that, the government will see to that need, if indeed there is a need. And, just a week ago, after hearing from citizens about oh, so many other needs, that was still his number one priority when he spoke in Lake County. Does he even read the paper or watch news?
He is a joke. I’ll trade him for 10 non-English speaking illegal immigrants.
a joke as an elected official, I cannot help to feel more concern for all those who voted for him last fall. In CD-5, apparently just being a Republican is more important than being effective at your job.
