As a participant in the process, I always get nervous when the Party dictates who the candidates will be, without our getting a word in edgewise.
Schaffer appeals to me because he was honest when it counted, even if, upon a blow-by-blow analysis, I might end up liking the other guy. Problem is, the candidates coming out of the Party these days are interchangeable parts.
Typical R:
There is absolutely no reason to be floating the rumor Nicholson is/might be running for Senate. He’s doing a fundraiser. End of story. Stop with the blatent rumor-milling and get back to the basics of reporting and discussing.
I heard that Nicholson substitutes for Al White in the Legislature when Al needs some time off. As they are identical twins, separated at birth, no one has ever noticed the difference – until now….
From what I’ve heard, Party insiders are smarting from the Schaffer-Coors fiasco in ’04 and the Beauprez-Holtzman debacle of ’06, and the last thing they want is a bruising primary.
Yeah, I heard Nicholson was going to formally endorse Josh Penry during the event. Josh’s base of support is so strong in the City and County of Denver, he thought having Nicholson give his endorsement at that event would be the perfect way to kick off his campaign. Everyone is talking about it.
Jim would be a great US Senator, but he’s not asking for that job. He’s made a commitment to the president, 24.5 million veterans and all of us taxpayers that fund VA’s $76B budget. His trip to Denver is a non-VA event and a favor to Denver Republicans who are working hard to re-build the county to help all our candidates.
It’s not a “big ticket” affair – unless the $75 you spend to get your hair done or spend out on Saturday night is “big ticket.”
Yes, a few folks are paying more – because they want to help.
