Steve Johnson Has Heart Attack, Recovering

Best wishes to Sen. Steve Johnson. As The Fort Collins Coloradoan reports:

Sen. Steve Johnson, R-Larimer County, was admitted into Poudre Valley Hospital Tuesday morning suffering from a heart attack.

Johnson, a member of the powerful Joint Budget Committee and a long-time elected official from the Fort Collins area, said he is feeling better and expects to be released from PVH tomorrow.

“I woke up Tuesday morning and could hardly breathe,” said Johnson, 47, from his hospital room today. “My chest felt heavy and my jaw hurt and I knew those were the standard signs of a heart attack.”

Johnson was rushed into an operating room where doctors inserted a heart stent Tuesday.

  1. Hey guys, thanks for the kind comments and well wishes.  I feel great today, expect to make a full recovery.  I will be released tomorrow.  This was a huge surprise to me, I’m lean, exercise regularly, eat right, don’t smoke. I do have some family history of high blood pressure and high cholesterol, but my cardiac risk score is very low.
Lesson is this can happen to anyone.  Do what you can to be heart healthy, and know the signs of heart attack, and act fast.
The team at Poudre Valley in Fort Collins is top notch, they had me in surgery within an hour and were done with the procedure in 25 minutes.  I felt better instantly.
I really appreciate the kind words of support from Republican and Democrat friends.  God Bless You all !

    1. My son-in-law is 39 and when I heard that he has a cardioligist, I was puzzled.  Seems that his dad died at about your age.

      Take good care of yourself.

    2. It was truly a shock to hear this happen to you. You’re young, healthy and funny! I always thought it was the humor in life that kept us healthy, but I guess we are all still very fragile.

And next time, don’t let your blood pressure go so high on account of us Dems! Take care, and get well soon. We need you back in the Capitol in just 6 months to do the people’s business.

    3. We wish you a full and quick recovery. Thanks for the update on your status.

Maybe it’s time to update the calculation of cardiac risk score to include serving in the legislature?

    1. that he took the time just to send a message to Pols after what he just went through – you never know who’s reading this blog. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
