Trent Seibert is Director of Government Accountability for the Tennessee Center for Policy Research where he researches government waste, fraud and abuse in Tennessee and recommends policies that foster a more transparent, ethical and responsible government.
Prior to joining TCPR, Trent spent over a decade as a journalist, uncovering corruption and exposing closed-door operations of state and local governments.
Trent was a political reporter for The Tennessean where he was part of the team that uncovered deep-seated cronyism and corruption in the Tennessee Highway Patrol. He also reported on ethics in government and the influence of lobbyists on Tennessee’s Capitol Hill. In 2005, Trent won the “Jimmy Davy” award for being one of The Tennessean’s top two journalists. The Nashville Scene named him the “Best Capitol Hill Reporter” that same year.
Most recently, Trent worked as an on-air investigative reporter for WKRN Channel 2 in Nashville where he broke news about legislators’ conflicts of interest, Tennessee’s new ethics laws and cost overruns by the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
Before moving to Tennessee, Trent was city editor of the Tuscaloosa News in Alabama, where he supervised the team that uncovered voter fraud in the Black Belt, the poorest counties in the state.
Trent was also an award-winning reporter for the Denver Post in Colorado, where he uncovered at the widespread problems in the Colorado Lottery. Trent also covered the War on Terror from Afghanistan and Pakistan after 9-11.

What is this about?
His handle is appropriately named Baffled.
Trent was a reporter for the Denver Post who both sides were convinced was solidly on the “other side.” He moved a couple of years ago. I don’t know why “Beetle Juice,” it just seemed appropriate. It’s just funny that, for all the drama he caused, it turns out that he was on no one’s side all along.
