Mail Call: Ask Alva!

Mail Time!

It's been far too long since we answered your questions in a Colorado Pols Mailbag.

We've gotten a few email requests for another "Ask Alva" (no, seriously), and we're happy to oblige.

Ask your questions of Colorado Pols either in the comments section below or at AskAlva@coloradopols.com. We’ll give it a few days to collect questions, and then we’ll answer as many as we can in a later post. Ask us anything about politics in Colorado or nationally — hell, ask us anything about anything, and we'll do our best to answer. All questions can be asked anonymously, so don't be scared of the email.

  1. Why does your new software suck so bad, and do you plan to do anything about it? I post one example below – threading is impossible to read on an iPhone.

      1. I can attest to that. It only takes about four or so comments for the threading to narrow to just one word per line.

I had called for an upgrade because Soapblox was showing its age (and I suspect it was not being supported any longer anyway), but this has been disappointing overall.

        1. What I am trying to point out is that once a comment thread gets gets more than a couple of responses it becomes unreadable on a smartphone. There must be a settting on the software that allows it to show responses without reducing the screen as shown in the image to one word per line.

          1. and I think when a coment thread gets more than a few replies is also when the "reply" button disappears though it may be more random than that

  2. Okay. Dear Alva, where the hell was I?  I missed the whole mail bag thing last May.

I don't remember May.  Or, are we back to the secret code ring, again?

My question: Is ColoradoPols going to make the new software more user friendly?

We need to be able to preview comments.  We need to be able to quickly see a thread and see who has responded to our comments.

It used to be more fun.  Although, the crude language has fallen off…I don't know if there is a corelation or not?

  3. Question for the Govs: Do large corporate entities, particularly the publicly traded kind, create net unemployment; whereas, small businesses create net employment?
