1. Stop the rhetoric and biased, one-sided reporting.  Anybody want to see how the DEMS are all in in supporting Jill and Leslie?  Visit my facebook page jen.raiffie and view the photo just taken one week ago.  

   Want to put unions first and pay more taxes w/o any reform, …vote for Jill and Leslie

   Want the district to have the same successes as Jill’s math program in JeffCo?  Vote for Jill..but look at the student proficiency rates for Math in Jeffco….EMBARASSING AT BEST!

2. Rhetoric??!!  Let’s talk rhetoric – here it is: Two weak candidates chosen by the lame-duck Jeffco BOE member Laura Boggs, both of whom know squat about  how a school district is run, assessed, funded and financed or managed.

   These two DUMB DADS who are running are the best the Jeffco Republicans could come up with?  The non-partisan gloves are off and Jeffco Dems are fighting fire with fire.  Bring it!!

   At the first of eight candidate forums the two Republican-backed opponents showed how little they know what they are talking about — pure rhetoric flowed from their mouths, in exactly the same tones, points and myth-filled lies  their Tea Party cronies keep throwing around.  They never change….

   When asked about closing the district’s achievement gap – DUMB DAD #1(Powers) fumbled with his cue card notes and then hastily half-way answered, ‘Jeffco should duplicate what Denver is doing that’s working’  asked to give examples of the successes he admires in DPS he was clueless — the same rhetoric about bringing taxpayers to the table (but failed to explain how), bringing up failing assessment and test scores (again, with no real explanation or solution offered), district transparency is lacking (uh, duh ~ Jeffco has public information on district salaries, budget #’s, proposed reducation – you name it on the district webpage: http://www.jeffcopublicschools… take a look around — nothing is being hidden by the ‘big, bad district)

   Powers homeschools his kids???!!!  Why the hell is he getting involved in the public school district?  Except to play the part of the puppet to Tea Party ideas of school voucher programs and dismantling one of the highest performing districts in the state.  Certainly you don’t want him making decisions for your child’s public school???!!

   DUMB DAD #2 (Branaugh) comes across as this really nice guy who lives next door.  Many comments are heard from people saying he attends their neighborhood church and seems like a great, involved parent.  WAKE UP — he’s been showing up at events with Laura Boggs and actually liking it.  He’s a right-wing Christian lawyer who thinks creationism should be taught in schools rather than evolution and real science.  Do you smell books burning??  

   Both the DUMB DADS keep bringing up the failing math scores in Jeffco Schools — Oh noooooooo, all of Jeffco students are failing and their math scores are so bad, the sky is falling, the sky is falling….Please, more rhetoric.  

   If you really believe this fat math myth — do your homework.  Take a look at their ‘research’ and look at the stats they use and from what year the stats come from.
   
   
   
   Jeffco’s advanced/proficient performance exceeds the state in CSAP math for all grade
   
   levels

   Jeffco’s performance on secondary CSAP math consistently exceeds the state and shows greater improvement over time
   
   –Studies show the content and rigor of secondary CSAP math are not
   
   aligned to high school courses; for example:
   
   –31% of test requires knowledge of math not taught until after geometry
   
   –CSAP was found substantially more difficult than the SAT
   
   –The CSAP 10th grade math test was more difficult than the ACT college entrance exam, which is required of all Colorado 11th graders
   
   •Jeffco outperforms Cherry Creek and Douglas County in both overall advanced/proficient
   
   performance and improvement from 2010, despite lower poverty rates for those districts.
   
   •Jeffco exceeds advanced/proficient performance for all districts with higher poverty rates.
   
   •Jeffco’s 1-year change shows greater improvement than majority of comparison districts.
   
   Both DUMB DADS keep citing the district will close 10 schools out of an out-of-date Facilities Master Plan that was presented to the current BOE in Jan. 2011 and was tabled by the board– AGAIN, it was tabled, it’s not current and not going forward.  

   These two DUMB DADS are only using the only ammunition they have, no knowledge, just scare tactics to scare voters  ~ LAME!

   No real substance from either DUMB DAD, no talk of real solutions or compromise — people shouldn’t expect much from these two, except to watch them waste the taxpayer dime by wasting district staff time with your lack of knowledge from the board table.
