Wouldn't it be nice if Repugs took a little time off working on, promoting, talking about and supporting things that can't possibly happen, such as secession, repeal of Obamacare, federal level abortion restrictions that can't pass constitutional muster, to name a few, and started spending just a teensy amount of time and energy in the reality based universe?
But I forgot. This has nothing to do with serious participation in governing. It's all about getting the base to cough up more contributions.
Oh and the Supremes ruled 7 to 2 against Arizona's demands for proof of citizenship papers to register to vote. Only Alito and Thomas voted to uphold. Guess the Supremes, in spite of their R appointed and commonly recognized as conservative outright or leaning (Kennedy) majority, must be a lefty, voter fraud supporting organization too.

Forget anything about patriotism or that secession from a state isn't the same as secession from the United States. It's just another one of those time wasters that can never happen. Among other obstacles, the federal government would have to approve a new state. Obviously, the Democratic majority Senate will never provide enough votes for less, much less, than a million people in a deep red collection of counties to have their own two ultra conservative Republican Senators and Rep.
Even if the Rs win a few seats in 2014 there's no chance that the requisite number of votes could be attained. In fact the number of wackos required is simply unattainable period. The farther into the future the less likely it becomes considering demographic reality. Everyone with as much sense a piece of toast knows this to be nothing but theater. Another hissy fit on the part of those who really dislike having to live with the results of the democratic process in a Republic.
And may I say I can think of no higher compliment than being a moron in the clueless judgement of the likes of Immoderatus.
Forget the US Senate. The Colorado Republican party would never let these guaranteed votes leave the state, and so it would never even pass the State House.

While President Bush was in office, the Republicans learned that there is no such thing as a permanent majority. The Democrats would be wise to remember this and not descend into similar hubris of about having a permanent Democratic majority.
That said, the demographics of Colorado are not in the Republican Party's favor. Winning elections is a numbers game. As long as Republicans struggle to be competitive in the Denver metro area, they’re going to have a hard time amassing the numbers required to win statewide office–sure they have a lock on Colorado Springs but even so, the numbers aren't in their favor beyond that.

I don't say there will be a permanent Dem majority. Nothing is permanent. But the current ultra right wing, religious and social conservative, GOP can't survive as it is going forward because of demographic change. At some point the GOP will have to reinvent itself but it will but it will be very hard for them to do it in the near future. They might even gain a few seats in the very short term but that's the best they can possibly do. So, while there is no reason to believe in a permanent Dem majority there is also no way the GOP, in its present incarnation, can be a national majority party either.
On the other hand, the GOP of today bears little resemblance to the GOP of even the relatively recent past so there is no reason to believe that, say, five years or ten years down the road it won't look a lot different than it does now and that the entire political landscape won't be shifting. These secessionists, however, are very definitley not the ones who are going to be taking the GOP where it needs to go to be a national party or even a successful one in states like Colorado going forward.

They are "Patriotic" up until the time for the Federal Farm Sudsidy payments then they are very happy to have the government in their "so-called" life.

Northern and eastern Colorado aren't going anywhere. Their water is tied to the Colorado River, i.e. the Western Slope, and calls for a separate state over here through the years have been laughed away once it was clear that money for highways, prisons, colleges and schools would go away.
Not that they're interested in facts, though.
