A new blog post from Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz today sounds the alarm over the recall special elections coming up in two Colorado state senate districts:
As Chair of the Democratic Party, I've been to more GOTV events than I can count. I've visited almost every state and have been involved in everything from the Presidential election to Governorships to ballot initiatives and small town races.
But never have I seen an election like the one that's happening in Colorado right now. [Pols emphasis]
After the Colorado legislature passed commonsense gun violence prevention measures, national deep-pocketed gun lobbyists and their allies decided they weren't satisfied. They weren't going to let a small thing like the democratic process get in their way. So instead of waiting until the next election (which is only a little more than a year away), they're bankrolling a wasteful recall effort on two current elected officials — elected officials who have strong track records on job creation, education and strengthening Colorado's middle-class families…
These national gun lobbyists have already tried to buy votes in Congress. Let's not let them buy elections, too.
We think "the worst election you've never heard of" is a great tagline to shake Democrats around the country out of their summertime complacency and get them focused on what's happening in Colorado. The recall special elections in Colorado are now less than a month away, and the national implications of the race for both sides can't be ignored. As the recalls increasingly become a proxy battleground for a wider slate of right vs. left issues, we expect to see more nationally prominent political figures weighing in–and it probably won't end with blog posts.

I hope Obama and Bloomberg come themselves to defend Morse and Giron. It will make the victory that much sweeter.
I hope they both win, just so you wipe the smugness off your fat face.
Dear US RAT MODE,
Don't hatchet your counts before they chicken.
Speaking of "deep pockets" – so Bloomberg wasn't involved with passing those bills? 😉
That was the legislature.
What was Wasserman's view of the recalls in Wisconsin? Because that was pretty much the same thing (except it was Dems recalling Repubs).
