Stop Foreclosures : ACORN

  • by: TakeBackTheHouse

In the first 24 hours following it’s launch in October, the Colorado Foreclosure Hotline (1-877-601-HOPE) received over 1,300 calls. Since that time it has helped thousands of Coloradoans find assistance in keeping their homes.

This month, the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) will be hosting a free “Homeownership and Foreclosure Prevention Fair.” People will be able to get counseling and information, and even meet with financial professionals who can help them find solutions.

If we get the word out about the hotline and the Fair, we can save our cities from the wasteful damage of vacant homes and homeless neighbors. We have working families, we have the houses, and we even have banks looking for ways to salvage their loans. All we need is to let the people know that there are ways to renegotiate bad deals and give them the tools to do it.

The fair is on January 26th, but your help is needed this weekend.

Rep. Morgan Carroll, and volunteers from Democrats Work, will be walking in the Aurora area putting fliers on the doors. Your help will make the difference between having the sound of thriving families behind those doors or the sound of gathering dust.

All we need are twenty people to join us for three hours this Saturday. We will be meeting at 10:00 in Eldorado Park. Bring a friend, and make some new friends on the walk. A little work on Saturday can save us from a generation of problems.
