It's not, it's the left's ridiculous child molester petition gatherer scare tactics again. Magically it did not apply to Amendment 66's paid petition gatherers.
Govote Colorado checks backgrounds. They also will fire people in a heartbeat if they screw around, intimidate voters, or behave unprofessionally.
Go Vote Colorado is the Secretary of State's office. What are you talking about? Do you have proof that the Amendment 66 paid petition takers were given background checks?

It doesn't say there that they do a background check, but I've been around when new canvassers were hired, and I know that they do a CBI check.

My thought is that I want to know who the gun nuts in my neighborhood are. If getting a gun nut's plate leads to my knowing where the loon lives, my family and my pets are safer, my peace of mind a little more assured.
We do have a sexual predator list, easily accessible, and we should be able to access information on the gunzo demographic, The pros easily outweigh the cons.
We could start at the CCW level. Any "law abiding" gun nut should be comfortable with this as after all, the gun nut "isn't doing anything wrong"..at least for the present time. The upside is, when the neighbors hear the gun nut pistol whipping a member of his family, SWAT can be called in before the gun nut begins shooting. Alchohol is a problem in most or all gun nut households, and that list would make neighborhoods safer.

The question is still valid. Do you want to give professional petition gatherers you personal information so they can later inundate you with solicitations? If we know anything about the extremists on the right is that they'll use any opportunity to pimp for money for their extremist causes.
