I guess it makes sense. When your party is losing the support of everyone except paranoid, disturbed old white men, you gotta shore up that base…..
Lamebrain lives at ground-zero for that demo.
So what is Lamborn's answer to the presence of 11 million plus illegals in the country? Maybe send the military on door-to-door roundups? It's easy for politicians like Lamborn to decry "amnesty." It's time for intelligent citizens to start replying: "OK, then what is your answer for dealing with the 11 million?"
George W. Bush didn't enforce the laws currently on the books either.
CHB: The answer to the 11 million undocumented immigrants is to deport violent criminals, and provide a pathway to citizenship for everyone else. It's the best thing for the economy, for employers, and it's the humanitarian thing to do.

Would someone on his staff tell that clueless Christian that Mexican immigration is at an all-time low, deportations under 'tar baby' (his words, not mine) POTUS is at an all-time high – and this 'wave' of immigrants at the southern border is a humanitarian issue? Perhaps he might like to know that (I was in Phoenix last week so heard all of it) it's the local church groups that have stepped up and took responsibility for many of the young girls? How much longer does the Pikes Peak Region have to suffer this fool?

Thanks for informing Congressman Lamborn about the facts but as former Republican activists, we both know facts aren't just in short supply in GOP territory, they are deemed to be irrelevant. Lying has become the norm for Republicans and their supporting cast at FOX and the right wing internet sources. If the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbour today, it just as likely a Republican congress would declare war on Tasmania if thats who they disliked today. The disconnect between reality/facts and Republican statements is now routine but it nevertheless is important that we continually take them to task for lying. Eventually, the majority will realize Republicans simply can't be trusted. Thanks again for your efforts.

I'm glad that church groups are stepping up to help. The whole thing is heartbreaking, and reflects decades of corruption, corporate profiteering and CIA interference with democratic movements in these countries.
Apparently, the process is to detain and shelter kids until /if families can be found. Then release to the families. If adults come in with kids, the families are "deported" to a bus station. Is this where churches are helping? If you know of a specific charity or church that is working with refugees and needs money, please post a link.
As for Lamborn, he won't be on our radar much longer, if his voters have any sense.
I don't remember which denominations were involved (it was more than one). That was happening the day before I came back and it was the lead story on TV that evening that the churches were preparing the food, finding clothes, bedding, etc. The local Red Cross was also mentioned – that would probably be the place to send money.
The pictures of the kids were heartbreaking, indeed. I wanted to scoop up a couple and bring them home with me. We, the mightiest, wealthiest nation ever known to man. We, a country governed by idiots like the Congressman who never met a billionaire tax break they didn't love. We, a country that apparently can't afford a cheese sandwich and bedding for young refugees escaping tyranny.
I had to do a double take reading the caption on this thread. I first thought it said that Lamborn was eyeing a run for majority leader……

If you're referring to Lamborn's post, how is it "disappointing"? It's exactly what anyone who has paid any attention to Lamborn over the years should expect. Unless by "disappointing" you meaning "completely predictable". If you lived in his district you'd still vote for him over a Dem, wouldn't you? Despite your inexplicable "disappointment"? Who did you think Lamborn was, anyway?
I actually had asked Elliot to respond, not someone speaking for him. I think he was disappointed in how he whole agenda of immigration reform has now been set back, but he can write for himself next time he checks in.

That's fine – when I want to argue with Elliot, which I enjoy doing, I'll do it on his Facebook page, where he writes for himself, has lots of conservatives to argue with, etc. I believe that he just completed a case and had a loss in his family, so it may be awhile.

Lamborn called them "illegal immigrants" instead of "illegal aliens." That's a sign that Lamborn is actually a sympathizer.
