Survivor! Colorado Pols Style

Round 2

It’s Friday, so that means Survivor! Colorado Pols is back. We’re kicking off one person in each of the four polls from last week so that we can add a few names that were left off unintentionally. Say goodbye to these politicos who received the most votes to get kicked off the island that is Colorado:

Tom Tancredo
Jon Caldara
Joan Fitz-Gerald
Diana DeGette

Republican Poll #1:

Congressman Tom Tancredo, with 98 votes, was booted out over Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, with 73. Senator Wayne Allard pulled only 7 votes on the low end.

Republican Poll #2:

Independence Institute head Jon Caldara, with 84 votes, gets the heave-ho over former State Senator John Andrews, who pulled down 73 votes. Attorney General John Suthers got only 6 votes.

Democratic Poll #1:

State Senator Joan Fitz-Gerald, with 63 votes, is off the island after edging out Senator Ken Salazar, who got 45 votes. Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper was the most-loved, only receiving 6 votes.

Democratic Poll #2:

With 92 votes, Congresswoman Diana DeGette has been tossed off of the island. State Senator Ken Gordon was a distant second with 35 votes, and State Senator Peter Groff picked up the low tally of 10 votes.

To see who will take their place, and to vote in this week’s Survivor! Colorado Pols, click below…

Just like the real Survivor, we’re adding some new contestants in a surprising and shocking twist!

New Democrats this week are CD-7 candidate Herb “The Robot” Rubenstein and State Representative Morgan Carroll. New Republicans to the party are State Senator Andy McElhany and TABOR daddy Doug Bruce.

Cast your secret ballots now. Four more politicos will get booted off the Colorado island next Friday.

  1. Yeah, no kidding, let’s get rid of the only moderate Dem who is in step with most of the people in this state.  This is the problem with the Democratic party.

  2. PS – the poll code is still not showing people; not that I wanted to vote for the folks who are missing, but Mozilla users can’t vote off Andy McElheny or Morgan Carroll.

Don’t see much wrong except a lack of a closing </td></tr> after the innermost table close, which isn’t in the right position to cause a problem, but you never know…

  3. This would be a more interesting exercise if participants could only vote members of their own party off the island.  You can bet that DeGette and Fitz-Gerald would still be contenders if Republicans were not permitted to vote Democrats off the island.

Isn’t it interesting that the two Democrats voted off are the two more powerful women in the state of Colorado.  Perhaps the Centennial State is still not ready to accept strong female leaders.

  4. The problem with only letting participants vote only members of their own party off the island is that you can’t verify that.  As to honor systems, well, there may be honor among thieves but I don’t think you’ll find much among politicians.

  5. After four ballots, the Dems voted off the island are all strong and effective women — Diana DeGette, Joan Fitz-Gerald, and Peggy Lamm.  The readers of this site obviously have a problem with “uppity” female politicians.

Who says that sexism has been eradicated?

Isn’t anyone else outraged over this?

  6. EW,
They are the strongest members of the party, I think that is the problem.  The most influential or biggest threats to the opposing party are being voted off on both sides, I think.
I don’t know, you think otherwise?

  7. Off-hand, I’d say the Republicans are losing their most looney: Caldera, Tancredo, Bruce, and Andrews soon to follow.  All of them have been in the news lately making really off-the-wall comments, and all of them are on the far-right fringes of the party.

Democrats are seeing a mix: Herb is out on the looney vote, Joan is out based on her being an outspoken liberal and threat, but DeGette is a surprise that definitely says “GOP vote” and “threatening”.  John Salazar, who seems to be next in line, could be construed as either a threat to the GOP or “not liberal enough” from the Lefties (or a bit of both joining together).

  8. Sorry – my bad.  Can’t see alternate polls on Mozilla – it seems to have commenting issues…

Lamm is out probably as the least of a strong field of candidates more than as a threat.  I actually had a hard time deciding in that poll.

Musgrave continues the Republican looney discards trend.
