2. Telling that McCain is the only strong anti-torture Republican and he's the only one who's been tortured.  He knows that you get to where you'd say anything to make it stop. How can an interrogation method that can get you to say you're the Queen of England, if that's what they want you to say, possibly be among the most effective ways to get reliable information? It can't and McCain knows it.

   But more important, McCain knows that torture has no place among decent human beings, is too utterly depraved to be tolerated regardless. Once again, it's interesting how the rightie view has switched over the years from the claim that enhanced interrogation techniques are not illegal because they aren't torture to a naked, depraved acceptance of torture as permissible. Except for McCain.

   1. It's telling that so many right wingers have managed to avoid military service so cannot (and do not wish to) relate to McCain's prisoner experiences. Telling, too, that the modern day right winger celebrates a lack of decency toward other human beings – not only terrorists, but the lesser class in this country.

      1. PS. In case you don't know the content of McCain's response, I offer you his opening remarks followed by a link to a full account. I sincerely hope that, instead of just jumping to the first snarky or canned spin response that pops into your head, you will read McCain's words, all of them, and give them serious consideration. 

         "Mr. President, I rise in support of the release — the long-delayed release — of the Senate Intelligence Committee's summarized, unclassified review of the so-called 'enhanced interrogation techniques' that were employed by the previous administration to extract information from captured terrorists. It is a thorough and thoughtful study of practices that I believe not only failed their purpose — to secure actionable intelligence to prevent further attacks on the U.S. and our allies — but actually damaged our security interests, as well as our reputation as a force for good in the world.

            1. I was only referring to the authors of this blog's obsession with trash talking the Denver Post for their endorsement of Cory Gardner. The Post can endorse whoever they want. They endorsed the winner. Get over it.

5. I wondered about this when listening to the entire speech.  Check out Digby's article about Udall's "outing" of the "Panetta Report."  This might be the part of the speech with the most lasting impact.  Frankly, given what the CIA has revealed it will do to "enemies of the state," it took some guts for Udall to reveal this much.

   Hayden, ( ex dir of agency , has an anomaly in that his two eyes, one has has a 1.5 to 2X times faster blink rate in an interview attempting to discredit report. ( I expect more from a house elf, "Dobby")
