Get More Smarter

How exactly is weather forecasting any different than gambling at this point? It's time to Get More Smarter with Colorado Pols. If you think we missed something important, please include the link in the comments below (here's a good example).

TOP OF MIND TODAY…

► Senate Democrats are holding a mid-session legislative briefing this afternoon for the media. Saturday, March 7 marks the official halfway point of the Colorado legislative session. Gov. John Hickenlooper is taking a more hands-on approach to this legislative session compared to years past.

► This probably won't surprise you, but several Republican lawmakers who present staunch anti-government platforms actually receive hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal subsidies for their farms. They don't want to kill the golden goose — they just want it for themselves.

Get even more smarter after the jump…

SHOULD YOU FIND YOURSELF STANDING NEAR A WATER COOLER…

Colorado Democrats are pushing a package of bills aimed at bolstering the middle class and helping senior citizens in general.

► A bill to crack down on cyberbullying has passed the Colorado House but may have trouble in the State Senate; it begins its first test today.

► Congress finally approved legislation to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Er, rather, Democrats in the House helped Speaker John Boehner get a DHS funding measure passed.

► The Jefferson County School District continues to make news for all the wrong reasons. Republican consultants are making big bucks off of Jeffco taxpayers.

► If right-wing talk radio is any indication of things to come in the campaign for Republican State Party Chair, incumbent Ryan Call is in big trouble.

Hillary Clinton is apparently some sort of IT expert, or something.

► Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke to a joint session on Congress on Tuesday, which drew mixed reactions because of the political undertones.

OTHER LINKS YOU SHOULD CLICK

American Right to Life (ARL), a national anti-choice organization, is ramping up its rhetoric on abortion. If you are pro-choice, says ARL, then you must want to kill babies.

► What if Hillary Clinton decides not to run for President? Politico plays out that scenario.

► The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Colorado's "Amazon tax" can be challenged in federal court after all.

Kruger is dead.

ICYMI

► Xcel Energy is seeking approval for a nearly 10% increase in natural gas prices for Colorado consumers. Good thing fracking is making natural gas so much cheaper.

Jesus may beat Rahm Emanuel in the April runoff for Mayor of Chicago.

    1. More like a Democrat with some staff with IT acumen. I'm sorry. My stomach hurts. I think the Dem money establishment has made a mistake prematurely driving everyone but HRC from the field.  Seems like every week something else reminds me why I never liked her in the first place. Not from the day she laid claim to the nonexistent office of unelected co-President by  marriage. How that made her a feminist icon is beyond me.  I see her as extremely pro-Wall Street Honcho, foolishly hawkish and likely to run an even more secretive administration. Unfortunately any R would be worse.  Quick. I need an antacid.

  1. Just read Politico scenario in case the anointed one doesn't run. As if my stomach wasn't hurting enough already. And if she does run, as everyone takes for a given, with the Clintons it's always possible that the opposition is keeping a really good scandal in reserve, to be exploded onto the scene only after she becomes the nominee. Love them or hate them, there's always a certain sleaze factor lurking, regardless of the legalities of getting anything to stick.
