Could Obama get top security clearance to work at White House, CIA?

  • by: Another skeptic

Given his friends, Wright, Ayers and Dohrn and his half sibs who live abroad, would Obama get top security clearance to work at the WH, Pentagon, CIA, etc.?

WH seeks to streamline security clearances.

Could Obama get top security clearance to work at WH?

  1. Obviously the president gets clearance. But my wife’s motehr who was from Finland had to become a citizen so her father could get some very high-level clearances. This was back when Finland was neutral between the US and Russia.

With that said, I have no idea how it works today – how close a relative in what country has an impact.

      1. It’s can a close family member be pressured by their government and through that, exert pressure on the person with the clearance. So it’s how close the relationship and the country that relation is a citizen of.

      2. good Saudi friends and the Bin Laden’s? They still do business with them. Does that disqualify the Bush’s, Cheney’s and Guiliani’s from a security clearance.

        1. Nomally, folks with such problems would apply for top security clearances.

And Bush’s connections with the Saudis struck me as purely political necessities, not long-time personal friendships.

There is a difference between working with the enemy to keep it a bay and working with the enemy to advance your run for the state senate.

  2. do you try to refute your own points with the links you provide?

Clearances are “long overdue” for an overhaul, says Rep. Tom Davis, of Virginia, the top Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Davis’ district in the Washington suburbs includes thousands of government workers and contractors.

A committee is considering eliminating interviews with neighbors and character references in cases where a candidate is cleared by other parts of the investigation, such as checks of criminal and financial records, Johnson says. “Do we really need to talk to five neighbors (of a candidate)? Do we really need all the colleges (the candidate attended)?” he asks.

So even if you were making a coherent point, you should really be mad at the Republicans who are lowering security standards. They’re compromising national security, Skeptic!

          1. You’re ridiculous diaries are sorry attempts to call Obama UnAmerican. It’s a tired old trick on the part of people who have nothing to argue for. You, your candidate, and your party, are intellectually bankrupt.

  3. You suggestion is so silly it doesn’t merit serious consideration.

Also, Obama has already undergone the close equivalent of an FBI background check, as every lawyer must as part of the character and fitness review process.
