  1. Doug Lamborn supports TPP (not TPA, because it's a Union Scam!) and gives KVOR's Richard Randall the justification on yesterday's show. (Link to 6/15 show @ 38:25).

Doug on agreeing with Obama: “Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.”

Only listen if you can resist the sublime logic and superior intellect of CD-5's Congressman for Life…..

(Listen to the whole thing if you want to sample the bizarre logic that drives Randall who is also able to repeat any/all Repub talker/talking points at any time.)

  2. Meet the scientific storytellers who can make the public afraid of anything—for a price: Merchants of Doubt is a new documentary that explores the dark heart of scientific spin doctors.

Gilsdorf: What I found interesting was that the “creating of doubt” strategy has changed over time. Especially in climate change. Initially, doubters said, “climate change doesn’t exist.” Now they might say, “Oh, it exists but it’s not being caused by humans,” or “It’s being caused by humans but, A, there’s nothing we can do about it or, B, it’s not worth the cost to fix it so we might as well just do nothing.”

Kenner: It shape shifts. So, in other words, the whole goal is just to create inaction. That’s the goal. It doesn’t matter what the argument is. You keep moving the target, but the point of whatever the argument is, is that we shouldn’t do anything. And they’re really good at it. They’re very clever. Everything is really designed to stop regulation. But what I’ve found is, stop regulation, until you can find regulation that can help you.

      1. No rain barrels, but if a dam bursts and wastes all that water, no big deal? I'm just lost. And arcane water rights can't be blamed for this.

        1. Chatfield probably won't burst – but if this rain pattern continues, and I don't see it stopping anytime soon, it will overflow the dam, the holding pond, and the nearby communities. It was designed OK for the conditions of 1965 – but those are not the conditions we face now.

    1. Actually, Zappy, when some dude tells me he wants to be the Democratic Party's candidate for President I kind of expect him to be, you know, a Democrat…

Bernie can't be bothered with affiliating with the Democratic Party and I can't be bothered with paying attention to him.   Hillary may not be perfect, but she is Democrat to the core.   I'll stick with milady!

      1. I, too, Voyager. On the other hand, as long as Bernie's out there on the stump maybe he can haul center-rightish Democratic candidates (Mme. Secretary) back to the left a bit. If so, I'm not proud, I'll take it.

  3. House GOP Proposal Axes Family Planning Program

House Republicans are trying again this year to eliminate federal funding for a program that provides birth control, HIV testing and sexually transmitted disease screenings and treatment to low-income patients across the country.

The House Appropriations Labor-HHS Subcommittee released a budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2016 on Tuesday that zeroes out funding for the Title X family planning program, the only federal grant program that provides contraceptive and other preventive health services to poor and uninsured individuals who would otherwise lack access to that kind of care. The program subsidizes 4,100 health clinics nationwide and provides no- or low-cost family planning services to individuals who earn less than about $25,000 a year. The largest demographic the program serves is reproductive-aged women between 20 and 29 years old.

"An elimination of Title X would have a devastating impact on the 4.7 million Americans who may no longer have access to high-quality, patient-centered family planning and sexual health care services," said Clare Coleman, CEO and president of the National Family Planning & Reproductive Health Association, an advocacy group for family planning providers. "For many of these women and men, a Title X-funded health center is their only access point to the health system and the only health care they receive all year."

House GOP Tries to Eliminate Public Funding for Family Planning

    1. Because what the country needs is a permanent underclass of people who keep reproducing, but never are able to move out of poverty… (sigh). Another letter to write to my reps. Like WTF ARE YOU THINKING?
