  1. It's Thursday, which means we must be having server problems!

The truth is, they don't just happen on Thursdays. But we're blaming Thursday. And WordPress. Stand by and sorry for the inconvenience.

  2. From The Hill

Sanders won the GOP debate – on Facebook

Bernie Sanders was crowned king of the debate yet again after producing the single biggest Facebook post of the night by far.

"It wasn't even close," says Brandon Silverman, CEO of CrowdTangle, a company that measures and analyzes social media interactions.

"The evening was really pretty sad," Sanders wrote in the Facebook post that garnered over 150,000 likes and 30,000 shares.

By comparison, the most shared Facebook post from a GOP candidate, which was published by Ben Carson, garnered just over 100,000 likes and 7,000 shares.

This wasn't Sanders' first GOP debate victory, either.

During the the first debate on August 6, Sanders generated the most retweeted tweet of the night, with over four times the retweets of the next candidate down: Hillary Clinton.

  3. First I couldn't get on. Then I could but my post didn't go though. Then it was off again. But I copied my comment and am here to try again, encouraged by these recent posts:

You're back!  How original of Nietzsche. Isn't that pretty much the old  Arab proverb, the enemy of my enemy is my friend? Whatever, having Iraq checking Iran was working put pretty well before GW went and made us all safer according to Jeb!. And before that there was that little 9/11 incident on big bro's watch after team Darth Vader/What me Worry had so much fun mocking all the "hair on fire" warnings. But, hey, Jeb! has the family Thanksgiving dinner coming up soon and we wouldn't want that to be too awkward, now would we?  But thanks for the advice, Nietzsche.

  4. False Witness: Huckabee's religion doesn't cover refugees

Mike Huckabee thinks those fleeing the violence – in many cases, families literally running for their lives – may just want cable television. I think Mike Huckabee’s callous indifference to human suffering is evidence of a candidate who has no idea what he’s talking about, and who’s record of ugly, heartless rhetoric has often bordered on despicable.

Can't you just picture Phyllis Schlafly sitting in the front row with her perfectly-couiffed hair, thousand-dollar Dolce & Gabanna outfit and scrunched-up nose as the Preacher Huckabee talks about them takers?

“Are they really escaping tyranny, are they escaping poverty, or are they really just coming because we’ve got cable TV?” Huckabee asked, in an audience question-and-answer session at the conservative Eagle Forum conference in St. Louis…"

They have turned religion in the United States into a world-class freak show.

    1. I dare the Huckster to say that in front of real refugees. Jesus came from Jewish refugee stock – all of that escaping the Egyptians and forced bondage and all..

Hence, his family's decision to stay in a less-than five star accommodation in a stable. But perhaps there was no real persecution, and the Jews were only trying to catch the latest shows.

    2. What a despicable excuse for a human being and what an ignorant little creep. He still doesn't understand how judicial review works and thinks the folks trying to 'splain it to him must have missed studying our three branch system in 9th grade civics. The judicial can't legislate, he rants. So far so good. But then he thinks when the Supreme Court rules that you can't discriminate against gays seeking to marry without violating their constitutional rights, it's legislating something.  He thinks Dred Scott is still the law of the land and we just don't enforce it any more.

What other loony things must he think? That women and blacks can't really vote? That blacks and whites really aren't really allowed to marry in southern states? We just let it slide? I guess he must think we've been doing the whole court thing wrong since…. pretty much forever. To think he calls himself a man of God and was a Governor, for God's sake. It's appalling. Worse than the Trump Show.
