UPDATE: A statement from GOP Senate President Bill Cadman praises the nomination of Donna Lynne as Lt. Gov., consistent with the bipartisan positive responses we’re hearing today:
Colorado Senate President Bill Cadman (R-Colorado Springs) today released the following statement in response to Gov. Hickenlooper’s nomination of Donna Lynne to be Lieutenant Governor:
“As a longtime community leader and activist, she certainty would bring valuable experience and perspective to the job, if confirmed. And at a time when healthcare is such a significant focus of public concern, for government, business and individuals, hopefully she’ll be just what the doctor ordered.”
Democratic-aligned women’s leadership development group Emerge Colorado responds enthusiastically:
Thanks @hickforco for nominating Dr. Donna Lynne to be our nxt Lt. Gov! Great news for CO! #coleg #copolitics pic.twitter.com/qecG8blVlT

Don't roll out the welcome mat yet, she still needs to be confirmed by the Senate. Majorities matter.
Except when a sitting POTUS, elected by back-to-back majorities in the last two elections, fulfills his constitutional duty to nominate?
Moddy thinks that they should leave it up to the next governor to decide.
BTW, in the event of a vacancy in Lt Governor post, doesn't the Senate Minority Leader, Lucia Guzman, stand next in line followed by the House Speaker?
Go ahead, leave the office vacant. When Hick leaves to join HRC's cabinet, Lucia Guzman will make history as Colorado's first Latina lesbian governor.
That would be another fabulous 'first' to add to the list of political accomplishments by Colorado women.
Lucia Guzman is a superstar. She has integrity, compassion, and is knowledgeable on many issues. I've been a fan since I walked door-to-door for her first School Board run in '99. If Democrats had any sense, they'd nominate her for Governor – not wait for Hick's musical chairs game to play out.
And thanks, Michael, for the shout-out for Colorado women. 🙂
Just curious. Is this something most Colorado Rs are upset about or is it just modster?
Bill Cadman speaks well of her.
So far it sounds like just Moddy but keep in mind that the GOP sheriffs lost their appeal in the 10th Circuit yesterday so there's no knowing how they may retaliate.
Remember, there doesn't have to be a logical connection between where they feel they've been wronged and how they act out.
Former Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce Chair. Must be some kind of dangerous commie.
Moderatus: you likely have nothing to worry about. Before coming to Colorado, one of Ms. Lynne's positions was chief of staff for then New York mayor Rudy Giuliani. So, she also has good Republican credentials.
I know Donna. She will do well in the position of lt. gov.
Giuliani is a RINO. Now you're just taunting Moddy.
Better to be a RINO than a CINO (conservative in name only). CINOs are those who favor small government and decreased spending until it comes to imposition of their religious views on others. Then, they're all for big government.
Well Kansas is a perfect controlled experiment in conservative small government economic (forget the religious stuff… just the economics) ideology and it's a total failure. So's Louisiana. In fact the failure of conservative economics has been thoroughly demonstrated, both via observation in the wild and in controlled lab experiments like Kansas, ever since the Reagan era. So I don't see where your so called "real" conservatism deserve any kudos either. And BTW. Who are you supporting for Prez these days? I've asked a zillion times with no answer. I'll go first. I'm supporting HRC. Your turn.
Good thing I know better than to hold my breath.
Unlike you, Blue Cat, I don't live on this web site. So, probably good you didn't hold your breath. Time to start thinking about shoveling 15" of "heavy flurries." Cheers!
CHB, as I recall, you liked Kasich as a candidate, but said you could see voting for HRC if Kasich isn't nominated. Never for Trump, Cruz, or Sanders.
Oh come on CHB. Yeah, it's tempting to check in frequently since I work from home but I've been asking you for weeks and you've been on plenty of times within minutes of my asking and this is the first time you have even acknowledged the question. So why are you so afraid to say? Once again, even if I see another comment from you within the hour I won't hold my breath for you to man up and give us your pick. Too deep into denial of what the 21st century GOP and 21st century conservatism have become? Hmmmmm?
PS. I know better than to expect a reply… ever... to the status of the perfect conservative economic experment in Kansas. You've been studiously ignoring that one for better than the entire past year. Cheerios to you too.
In fact the failure of conservative economics has been thoroughly demonstrated
Daddy Bush warned all of us back in 1980 when he called it "voodoo economics." Sadly, the Reagan campaign dangled something bright and shiny in front of him (i.e., the VEEP post) and he recanted.
Speaking of voodoo: don't tell Moddy, but Cadman + the Senate Dems = a majority.
Let's not forget the "religious stuff", because that's where these pieces of "small Kansas government" came from:

They are going to get sued six ways from Sunday over these ugly things. How’s that for small government and fiscal conservatism?
I wonder how that funding item would have been coded in the overstressed Kansas budget? "Sanitary Security"? "Gender Enforcement"? "Potty Police"? We'll never know, because it was "stalled".
Their whole goal is to make government so small it will fit into a woman's uterus.
On its face, it's hard to see how this choice serves Gov. DoLittle's oily-boy buddies' interests …
… but, I'm sure it somehow does!
Maybe she can get Kaiser ER's to provide better treatment for politicians self-poisoning by ingesting fracking fluid.
Don't see any clue on her resume. It could be one of those things like we had with our Mesa County Commissioners…Janet Rowland, admitting her ignorance, would blithely defer to Craig Meis on all things oil and gas…I am sure if Ms. Lynne doesn't have a background in O&G, Governor Frackenlooper will have her all lined out very soon.
They are going to get sued six ways from Sunday over these ugly things. How’s that for small government and fiscal conservatism?
Not to mention the recent move by the senate there to impeach state supreme court justices who go against their wishes. That kind of violates the whole concept of a republican form of government and should be challenged in the US Supreme Court as a violation of the 14th Amendment.
Probably won’t be, though. You know, state’s rights and all that; the 14th is seen by many as a usurpation of the sacred 10th Amendment.
I saw that about the Kansas supreme court. I'm fairly certain there are people who will pursue it if they try this. There are deep pockets out there with nothing to lose and everything to gain if the federal courts slap down this absurd notion. .
