    Hillary Clinton has picked up significant ground on Donald Trump when it comes to a variety of personal and policy-related issues, particularly foreign policy, according to the results of a CNN/ORC poll released Tuesday that was conducted in the days after the Democratic National Convention.

    Nearly six in 10 registered voters—59 percent—said Clinton is better prepared to handle foreign policy issues, while 36 percent said the same of Trump. In the last CNN/ORC survey conducted after the Republican National Convention, Clinton held a narrower five-point lead of 50 percent to 45 percent on the issue. Results from the survey released Monday showed Clinton with a lead of 52 percent to 43 percent when matched head to head against the Republican nominee.

    The survey was conducted between last Friday and Sunday, largely before the airing of Trump's ABC interview in which he stated that Russia had not already invaded Ukraine but after the Clinton campaign blamed the Kremlin for the hack of the Democratic National Committee's servers. Nearly six in 10 registered voters—58 percent—said they see Russia as unfriendly (37 percent) or even as an enemy (21 percent). Another 31 percent said they considered Russia friendly with the United States, while just 8 percent found the country to be an ally.

  4. And one more bit of Trump news for Colorado. Politico reporting that Trump fired his Western Regional Political Director, Jimmy Stracner.

    I guess that is good news for Patrick Davis?

    1. Supposedly because of the disastrous week his campaign has had. Guess he couldn't fire the most responsible party….. himself.

      And I bet he still thinks his convention was the best because of the final night ratings. He's all about ratings. Never mind the historic percentage of people less likely to vote for him because they tuned in. First candidate ever not to get at least a few more "likelies"out of convention viewers.

      Romney got 2 points worth. HRC just got 4 points worth. Obama had 5 points worth. The numbers aren't big because most who watch are already supporters. But Trump got negative 15 points worth in "less likely" responses. So I guess his now lost post convention bump must have come from people who didn't tune in? And, remember … this is just about the results of the convention, not the dust ups since.

      Yeah… if Trump loses it will have to be because he didn't fire enough people and/or the election was rigged.

  5. I called it here and Obama gets on the bandwagon: Trump will not be the R nominee by November.

    “The question I think that they have to ask themselves: If you are repeatedly having to say in very strong terms that what he has said is unacceptable, why are you still endorsing him?” Obama said, naming Ryan and McConnell. “What does this say about your party that this is your standard-bearer?”

    Trump’s gaffes aren’t “episodic,” Obama said.

    “This is daily and weekly where they are distancing themselves from statements he’s making,” he said. “There has to be a point at which you say this is not somebody I can support for president of the United States.”

    Lo and behold, 8 years of Republican bullshit about Obama's qualifications, incompetence, lack of professionalism, hatred of the Constitution……and they nominate the guy who embodies All their worst political instincts.

    1. Yes, Zap, I'm sure Obama reads this blog every day. But hold on before you take credit for calling whatever it is you're calling and that Obama read here and is supposedly saying and taking credit for at your expense… That Trump will be dropped as GOP nominee? Don't hold your breath.

  6. You've got it, B.C. Trump's a summbitch and he's their summbitch, all the way to the general election. All I can say is something about sleeping with dogs and catching fleas.

    1. I was a little girl when that episode first aired on Twilight Zone and was afraid to look out of my bedroom window at night for the longest time! If it was closed and I wanted it open or visa versa, I just let it be.

    Donald Trump does a lot of TV interviews, so it's easy to understand how he might forget one. But it might have been a good idea to check his booking record before he said this at a rally in Ashburn, Va., on Tuesday:

    We’re running against a rigged system, and we're running against a very dishonest media. The media is very dishonest, very, very dishonest. I mean, when they don’t take Patty Smith, when they don’t take Pat, who’s an unbelievable woman, and they give her virtually no airtime, and they give other people unbelievable amounts of air — just so unfair. It’s so unfair.

    Had Trump looked at his schedule, he would have seen that he himself is the one who took air time away from Pat Smith, who spoke at the Republican National Convention about losing her son in the 2012 attack on a U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. While Smith was onstage, Trump called in to Bill O’Reilly’s show on Fox News. Viewers of the top-rated cable news channel — which has covered Hillary Clinton’s role in the response to that attack as vigorously as any news outlet — did not see Smith speak live because Trump preempted her.

    I wrote about Trump's head-scratching decision to overshadow Smith at the time, and other journalists took note, too.

    Trump is not the only one suffering from amnesia when it comes to Pat Smith coverage, however. On "Fox & Friends" Monday, co-host Brian Kilmeade drew a comparison to coverage of an address by Khizr Khan at the Democratic National Convention, complaining that "nobody covered those remarks live, but almost everybody covered Mr. Khan's remarks live."

    "There is a double standard, it seems," Steve Doocy agreed.

    Actually, Fox News's competitors did show Smith live while O'Reilly was interviewing Trump. Kilmeade and Doocy had it backwards.

    So if Trump is upset about TV networks deciding not to "take" Smith, he can talk to Fox News — or himself.

    The GOP presidential nominee's grievance makes a bit more sense if we consider media coverage after the conventions. Khan's address certainly generated more follow-up attention than Smith's. But once again, Trump is largely responsible. He is the one who prompted an uproar when over the weekend he questioned why Khan's wife, Ghazala, stood beside him onstage but did not speak.

    "Maybe she wasn't allowed to have anything to say," Trump said on ABC, seemingly suggesting that the Khans' Muslim faith kept her silent.

    Criticized within his own party for that comment, Trump defiantly doubled down.
