“Civilized society is perpetually menaced with disintegration through this primary hostility of men towards one another.”

What's right with Kansas:
"Freedom Caucus" member Tim Huelskamp (R-KS 01) defeated in GOP primary. What's right with Kansas!?!
Kansas Primary Election Sends Brownback Supporters Down In Flames
According to Yahoo News that I checked just now, 11 conservative senators and reps in Kansas lost their primary bids, including Senate Majority Leader Terry Bruce. Couple others were in races too close to call. All the losses seem related to the education funding issue. Didn't see anything about Huelskamp, but he had lost the support of the Kansas ag industry.
Appears that voters there may finally be waking up. After all, Brownback got re-elected by a good margin.
I can throw stones into his District from one of our wheat fields. Good riddance. Boehner's targeted 'Dirty Dozen' is now a Twinkie short of a full box.
And waste good stones ???
Did I say stones? I should have said I can step across the imaginary line that separates us and get stoned in his district! (not that I’d ever do anything like that).
Take THAT you miserable Prohibitionist!!
So glad the ag community took him down. There were several heavy hitters in KS who went to him with their support for The Industrial Hemp Farming Act and asked him to co-sponsor. Fell on deaf ears – he and Steve King are afflicted with the same disease.
Disappointing but not surprising. I support almost anything that gives the hard-working men and women in U.S. agriculture a fair return for their labor and often staggering capital investments. If hemp was good enough for George Washington, it's good enough for me.
A word about the "stoned' part. Once a friend swore she had found weed growing along a back road in Wisconsin and brought it back to us for our smoking pleasure. Free weed. Yay! Turns out it was hemp, probably gone wild from some old planting for rope. You really can't get stoned on that stuff. We tried. Guess I shouldn't say "can't" but if a bunch of bored teens in the late 60s couldn't keep up the effort long enough to cop a buzz, I don't know who could.
Great story, BC! My standard line in a speech is that you could smoke a joint the size of a telephone pole and only end up with a headache and diarrhea 😳
Yet, idiots like Congressman
CantaloupeKing still can't wrap their heads around things we were taught in Botany 101.Headache. Crushing. And a little nausea.
Wasn't Huelskamp one of the Wacko Birds made famous by John McCain?
This is big news and unexpected (to me anyway). Could be a bellwether.
Even more good news from Wisconsin:
Federal judge strikes down Wisconsin election laws passed by GOP, Walker
Hey, Republicans! There is no dishonor in being among the first rats to recognize the ship is sinking and get the fuck off the boat. It just proves you are a smart rat.
Wanna save your party? Maybe you should try to….no, I'm kidding…YOU CAN'T!!!
BWAAAAHAAHAAAAAHAA!!
The GOP Held Hostage – Day Six (cue the music from Ted Koppel's Nightline)
It was good news and bad news.
The good news: Trump received a Purple Heart yesterday from a veteran. His response: he always wanted to get one but never expected to actually receive one.
The bad news: Meg Whitman, former advisor to John McCain, fundraiser for Mitt Romney and Chris Christie, and 2010 Republican gubernatorial candidate in CA, announced that she would not only vote for HRC, she was encouraging her Republican friends to do so and would make a mid-six figure donation to the Clinton super-PAC. She also reiterated her comments from last spring comparing Trump to Hitler and Mussolini.
Who will be the next Republican to join Richard Hanna and Meg Whitman? Cory Gardner and Mike Coffman, opportunity knocks!
Donald Trump is uniting America — against Donald Trump. This is In much the same way as Ted Cruz united the GOP — against Cruz.
Today there is more talk about how to replace Trump as the nominee. Yesterday it appeared that if Trump left the race that Pence would automatically become the new nominee. Today there is talk that if Trump left the race the RNC would pick his replacement. Apparently the RNC rules state that the nominee can be replaced due to death, withdrawal by the nominee, or "for other reasons". The stench of Trump will not rub off those who support him now; and that applies to both public and private individuals. (I'm talking to you Paul Ryan and Mike Coffman, and oh yeah, members of my family and friends.) You cannot stay silent any longer.
I can't take my eyes off this train wreck!
So if they went with #2 (Eduardo), is he stuck with Trump's VP or does he get to make good on his vow to Carly? They were only one losing state away from choosing a Cabinet.
I don't think they really know what would happen.
Paging GOP electoral lawyers. Cleanup on aisle Trump, STAT!!
…in either case, Pence has escaped an embarrassing loss in the IN governor race.
In exchange for a embarrassing loss for VP
But Chuck and Dave will still love him, although they might be thinking about a re-write after the spanking their boys got in the Land of Oz yesterday.
That's the important thing. He hasn't lost his place at the trough.
I have little doubt it would be easier to rehabilitate a meth addict than it would a Koch addict.
But, he'll get zero blame for the loss and if he gives good,. Conservative talk and is loyal to party he'll start in top position in '19.
Pelosi's people know Colorado Pols! How do I know? A leaked DNC email, that's how:
Joe Scarborough today is trying a new meme: Trump is actually a Dem and that Bill Clinton conspired with Trump to run as a Republican in order to destroy the GOP. (Trump voted for Bill Clinton, voted against W Bush, donated to Hillary, and had a very long phone conversation with Bill Clinton. Oh my!)
Scarborough mentioned this several times today to be sure it was emphasized.
So, I guess the argument is that GOP voters are stupid enough to fall for this Trojan horse evil plot by Bill Clinton and Trump. Well, they are the Stupid Party.
And naturally, poor Moddy fell for it hook, line and sinker
This would make perfect sense if Trump were a rational person. I'm going with the severe mental health issues like off the charts narcissistic behavior syndrome combined with sociopathy
Never been to a Trump rally? Enjoy…

Some of them look like the same folks who were in the audience on the Morton Downey, Jr. Show 25 or 30 years ago.
How do you plan to celebrate Labor Day? . . .

. . . I know, let's all do the Job-Creators Charleston !
The Great Gatsby analogy works,,,if Trump is Tom ( violent, unfaithful, racist, possessive) and also Gatsby (rich, affiliated with casinos, obsessive), and Daisy (self-absorbed, feckless, hedonistic). I don't know where Pence fits in…
. . . George Wilson, the poor stupid schlump gas station mechanic
"so dumb he doesn't know he's alive"
. . . whose wife is being regularly
seeviceddrumpfed byTomDrumpf ???Good save.
!!
Spoiler alert: The George Wilson character ends up shooting Gatsby in the end, for Daisy’s carelessness in killing Tom’s wife, Myrtle. Wonder if the long-suffering Pence will snap spectacularly, too….This is the guy whose soundtrack for his VP entrance was, “You can’t always get what you want.”
But then, after further review, "so dumb he doesn't know he's alive" could very well also be Hair Magnificent . . .
. . . Pence is probably that blank, empty flyleaf at the very back of The Great Drumpfsby novel?
Interesting pre-mortem on the Trump campaign from Eli Stokols
