And...Now Trump Is Straight-Up Advocating Violence

UPDATE #3: Ernest Luning of the Colorado Statesman tracks down a spokesperson for Republican Darryl Glenn’s Senate campaign. Try to hide your surprise:

—–

UPDATE #2: We’d like to suggest a new campaign slogan for Donald Trump:

Trump-JustSayin

—–

UPDATE: The National Rifle Association weighs in, and:

What country is this again? We’re only half-joking. This really does not reflect the America we know.

The Hill reports on today’s remarks from Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump…and, holy shit folks:

Trump was discussing the possibility that Clinton, the Democratic nominee, would be able to appoint liberal justices to the Supreme Court if she wins the race for the White House…

“Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish the Second Amendment,” Trump said to boos from the crowd.

“By the way, if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks,” he then added.

“Though the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know.” [Pols emphasis]

Anybody out there want to tell us this isn’t exactly what it sounds like?

  1. "Second Amendment remedies." This is Sharron Angle all over again, except from the GOP's presidential nominee.

He needs to withdraw. This can't be allowed in America.

    1. Damn straight. And anybody who tries those second amendment solution will get crushed.

And why do he and the NRA never get called out by reporters, interviewers, newspaper, etc. on this lie that HRC or any other Dem pol wants to abolish the second amendment. Calling for regulation is not calling for repeal and every right is regulated to some degree. There is already a degree of regulation that no Supreme Court has ever ruled inconsistent with the constitution.

Recognizing that you can't yell "fire" in a crowded theater was not a call to abolish the first amendment. These hypocrites know very well that there have always been limits on the right to bear arms, limits they are fine with, limits they aren't demanding an end to. They know that they're talking shit when they claim, with no basis in fact, that  liberals are calling for the second amendment to be abolished. But they don't get called on it. They don't get asked to show a video or produce a transcript in which HRC is calling for any such thing.

First he strongly implies that if he loses this election it will be because it's rigged. Then he strongly implies that if HRC wins and some people don't approve of her Supreme Court choices, falsely claiming that they will abolish the second amendment, that those who disagree should stage an armed rebellion or assassinations?

This has gone way too far. The GOP needs to disown him, take their medicine, get their shit together and try to do better next election. Our leading news anchors need to go Edward R Murrow on the guy.

This scampaign isn't funny anymore. It's poisonous, anti-American, dangerous and all of our leaders on both sides of the aisle need to stand against it as American patriots now.

        1. Probably because absolute rights, like anything absolute, ideal or perfect, don't exist in the context of material reality which gets messy and complicated with one person's rights bumping up against another's as do the rights themselves.

        1. Too bad he represents one of the few and is often dismissed as a flake. The important single vices of the past, such as a Murrow or a Cronkite, are no more. The modern media landscape gives no one such stature. So we need  an overwhelming number of journalists of all kinds to join together in saying "enough" in place of the old giants.

  2. "Second Amendment solutions".  Really dumb.  The amendment gives you the right to bear arms, not to use them in rebellion against the government or to assassinate people you don't like.

And these are people who claim to support the Constitution.

  3. Trump thinks he belongs in the Oval Office. If he keeps going in the direction he's headed, he may wind up in a small, square room with striped sunlight. I can't imagine the Secret Service was amused by his little quip.

  4. Have any of Trump's reluctant supporters – I'm looking at you Paul Ryan – reconsidered and rescinded their endorsements of the Horse's Ass since this latest faux pas to come out of his cake hole?

    1. After he came out in favor of eliminating the estate tax and a couple other 1%er giveaways ????   Moderatus will toss over Drumpf before any of those those other spineless pussies do.

        1. The other excuse is that he is arguing that the ammosexuals need to get out and vote. The problem with this excuse is that she can only pick a justice if she is president and it would be past organizing GOTV efforts.  If it is another one of his 'jokes' then it shows a twisted sense of humor.

  5. If you have any question or in any way think that Donald Trump was not asking for the assassination of President Clinton, please watch a tape of Lawrence O'Donnel's show on MSNBC last night.  He breaks it down as any English teacher would.  Once you see this, you will never again think that Trump wasn't calling for assassination.  Period.

    1. Pure. Friedman. Gold.

Trump’s Wink Wink to ‘Second Amendment People’

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin got assassinated.

His right-wing opponents just kept delegitimizing him as a “traitor” and “a Nazi” for wanting to make peace with the Palestinians and give back part of the Land of Israel. Of course, all is fair in politics, right? And they had God on their side, right? They weren’t actually telling anyone to assassinate Rabin. That would be horrible.

    2. Nothing to do with voting for him to prevent an HRC presidency. Clearly about options in the case of an HRC presidency resulting in her ability to appoint Supreme Court Justices who would "abolish" the 2nd amendment. Never mind the Supreme Court has no such power and there is no evidence that HRC wants the amendment "abolished" at all.

In fact I'm not sure he said "second amendment people" instead of "second amendment, people" directly addressing his people with the possibility of a "2nd amendment solution".

There are things you don't joke about as a presidential candidate and asking Russia to hack your opponent and suggesting assassination of your opponent are certainly two of them. These should be deal breakers for every GOP elected official, candidate and leader, even the ones who claim to believe he was joking. Every one of them still refusing to denounce Trump and continuing to support or not publicly proclaim unwillingness to vote for him is a disgrace.
