How's this for pollution:their GodD$#% water is on fire!

In Northern Colorado, where local citizens are dependent on their wells for their drinking water, our local Fox affiliate (surprisingly enough) is reporting that oil and gas contaminants are causing people’s water to

catch on fire.

Watch the video below, and ask yourself how would you feel discovering that you had been using this water for bathing, cooking and drinking?

thanks to Heidi Hemmat – (heidi.hemmat@kdvr.com)

Ironically, just this past week, the Colorado Dems in the State House passed the first significant legislation for regulating the oil and gas industry for which the republican leadership was none too pleased.

That’s because this legislation would put in place protections that would be more costly, but on the bright side would leave your family’s drinking water non-flammable.
This week should be renamed “Water Awareness Week” in Colorado, with NESTLE trying to tap into our state’s mountain aquifers for bottled water profit, despite scientist telling them it would drain our water resources, and Shell Oil finally conceding that their Oil Shale plans actually would deplete the state’ water table, depsite the Bush Administration’s last minute approval of their plan.
How long till we all get it? Water is finite. Once groundwater is gone, its gone.
Money can’t bring it back, and can’t be the rationale for depleting and/or spoiling it in the first place.

This is the name of the Petroleum Company…just in case you wanted to know.

      1. The AP wrote about this and KDVR and KCNC did stories last Thursday. We had a lively discussion about it a week ago here on Pols.

But you’re right, our water supply is fragile. i even hear John McCain wants to renegotiate the Colorado River Compact and steal some of it for Arizona — stop the presses!
