  1. Did anyone else notice that Ritter came out from the tall grass on the Pinnacol issue on the same day that Penry accused him of hiding under his desk?  Someone must have interrupted his conference call with a windmill nut and bolt manufacturer to tell him that the state budget was collapsing and the Senate GOP was gaining traction.

  2. Article about Denver’s Mayor Hickenlooper attending and introducing a longtime favorite band of his, X, one of punk rock’s most literate acts:

    http://www.indenvertimes.com/2

Apparently, Hickenlooper did more than just attend the L.A. band’s show, according to bass player and singer John Doe. Doe said onstage last night, “Yes we had lunch with the Mayor. How fucking times have changed.”

    1. Ritter was at the concert with Hick when the state budget was collapsing?  Is that why he waited til the last minute to blink and cave in to the recommendations being made by Penry and others?

      Rock on, Ritter.

        1. If Bill Ritter is working in public to solve the problem, he is politicking.

If Bill Ritter is working in private to solve the problem, he is doing some sort of nefarious backroom deal and robbing us taxpayers blind without our knowledge.  We should throw a tea party to protest.

If Bill Ritter is doing anything else during the day other than working on the budget, (heaven forbid) he’s hiding in the tall grass.

If Bill Ritter is compromising on the budget, he is kneeling to Josh Penry, who is god.

          1. Sounds more like a late night deep throat session with some of the Justices in an unnamed basement garage?

Cutting HigherEd and foregoing the billions in stimulus dollars? Who’s boner was that?

      1. Aristotle is right, you have nothing.

How much does Sen. Penry pay you anyway?

Wait, wait, wait. I shouldn’t even ask you questions because you’ll just change the subject with some ridiculous anti-Ritter non sequitur as soon as people try to engage you.

David’s right. When Ritter makes a public statement, you claim he’s politicking or partisan or doing something because Josh Penry wants him to. When he’s doing things behind the scenes, you claim he’s hiding under a rock.

It’s getting pretty %^$#%#@ getting old.

        1. You can get paid for getting on a partisan blog and questioning the daily circle jerk?  I need to call someone and demand some cash.

You all need to remember that blogging from state computers is illegal.

            1. Thanks to Bill Ritter and his holy war on extractive industries, my husband and I have nothing BUT time on our hands.  We’ll be working any way we can to make sure Ritter gets sent back to his triple mortgaged home.

              1. so you’re a desperate housewife. That explains oh so much. Either that, or I have a whole new perspective on you.

Holy war? My god you have absolutely no idea how ridiculous you make yourself sound.

                  1. Just because flammable gas comes out of someones water faucet dosen’t mean the governor has to wage a holy war on extractive industries.  Sheesh – what a bunch of whiners.

Health and safety regs are for sissies !

                    Drill baby drill !

                    Loon.

              2. So do a little research. Last summer, Colorado gas was selling for north of 13 bucks. Today it’s south of three bucks. Do the math. If operators can’t make a profit, they close wells in, stack the rigs and wait for the price to come back.

Then check the Baker Hughes rig counts. You’ll see other gas-producing states are in a world of hurt, too, without any new rules.

Oil and gas are commodities. As such, the price goes up and down. Every boom is followed by a bust. You can look it up.

Finally, you and your hubby shouldn’t get jobs in the same industry, no matter what the industry is. You’ll be less vulnerable to downturns.

Best of luck. It ain’t easy for any of us on the Western Slope, but, as many people have said for years, we get a third of our salary in scenery.

  3. from CNN

This guy worked for Hastert and is now a lobbist for News Corp, Chamber of Commerce, etc. Definitely from the right.

And he makes some very good points, especially:

But what is most interesting to me about that conversation is how the attitude of this family friend reflects the attitudes of most Americans. Cut government spending, but don’t touch my piece of the pie, the many cry out as one.

All 4 of his points are worth discussing, and the first 2 are spot on.

  4. John Madden Retires

Whether you liked him or not, his name is synonymous with the game of football. I’m going to miss hearing him point out incredibly obvious things, and that ridiculous “hee hehehe” laugh of his. As long as he keeps putting out video games that curse the athletes who grace their covers, I’ll be OK.

For a guy who used to coach the Raidahs, he’s pretty damn cool.

    1. I’m sure people will start complaining about the lines going into Chicago without noticing just as many lines going through the Deep South and Texas.
