Since President Donald Trump’s inauguration, there have been weekly protests against Sen. Cory Gardner over the range of issues making headlines from Washington, D.C. outside Gardner’s downtown Denver offices near 17th and Arapahoe.
This week, following the announcement Monday that Colorado’s Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet will not join the Democratic filibuster of Trump’s U.S. Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch, the protests moved south–to Bennet’s Denver office at 11th and Sherman:
The hardy group, unfazed by heavy snow that had fallen just hours before in Denver, marched south along Lincoln St. from the Civic Center area to Bennet’s offices:
And delivered a petition calling on Bennet to oppose Neil Gorsuch. A friendly Bennet staffer (below right) accepted the petitions–and something else, too:
You’ll find out on Friday, the day the Senate is set to vote, if Sen. Bennet received the, um, delivery! We’ll update this post with statements and coverage of today’s event as we see them.

Maybe for the first time, Bennet IS showing backbone. Sorry liberals.
And we care what you think because….
You don't, but some who read this blog do. And because its true.
The collective sum of people on this blog logging in to seek your wisdom (based on truth) is a negative number, not a bigly one.
The man who kowtows to a fake-tanned, fake haired, wannabe dictator and fervently wishes for a fascist government's boots to lick all shiny clean…
is talking about backbone?
Just be glad that the nice people decided to be gender neutral and not find a different body part for the Senator.
The Democrat mind has lifted off and will achieve orbit around the non planet of Pluto on Friday. Meanwhile ground support teams are calling for Bennet to get a spine, not only does he have a spine but also a mind, one of the few Democrats left on the planet who does.
Next mission will be to enter a black hole of Socialism. Pilot in command will be Bernie Sanders along with mission specialist Liz Warren.
The quality of trolls these days is depressing.
You're making a bad assumption; one that says Passionate Prune is coherent and actually knows what he's talking about.
I'm fine with Bennet not getting into the filibuster over Gorsuch. There will be other battles down the line for Bennet to engage in. Those who stridently oppose Gorsuch fail to see that he is the most qualified of the possible appointees that might come from this president. Anybody think Judge Roy Moore from Alabama should be nominated? It could be far worse.
And I wonder how many of these demonstrators bothered to vote for Hillary on election day; or maybe couldn't be bothered. Like their 100,000+ colleagues in Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania who couldn't be bothered, stayed home; and gave Trump the presidency.
It isn't as if Bennet's lack of involvement provides him with some sort of power boost or "extra ammunition" for future arguments.
Gorsuch may be "the most qualified" from this President — especially if he continues to get lists from Heritage and Federalists. On the other hand, Trump could take "advice" from all sides of the Senate and emerge with a judge that more nearly reflects the narrow win in the Electoral College, along with a loss in the popular vote, the decreased number of Republican Senators and Republican members of the House.
Good thought (2nd paragraph), but not a likely scenario. As somebody named Obama once said, “elections have consequences.”
