  1. was HB 1039, which is awaiting the Guv’s signature.

It gives in-state tuition to honorably discharged Vets who decide to move to Colorado to live and further their education after their service.

The bill was sponsored by two Republicans: Rep. McNulty and Sen. Kopp.

It was a no-brainer, but a really good idea nonetheless.

    1. I’m sorry that Vet groups had to beat up the legislature during the “illegal immigrant kid” tuition bill to get this moving again.

I know that some micro-gov’t advocates will hoot and screech about tax dollars going to a special group of people to go to school, but there’s some issues to consider other than the obvious ones (they went to War and risked their lives and piece of mind for this country.)

California has very generous programs for AD military and veterans – so veterans get out in California, go to school, buy houses and start businesses. They create wealth and pay taxes, and boost the economy.

Colorado is 49th out of 50 states in vets benefits (you get a fishing license and 300+ days of sunshine.) If we actually had some decent vet programs in this state, we could see that same bump.

  2. Just in time to lay claim to taking the elderly’s homestead exemption, the pillaging of funds built on various fees, the attempted nationalization of Pinnacol, the expansion of union bosses arms … oh wait those weren’t in the video message.

    1. Tadpole, you should be crediting your God, Doug Bruce for all those accomplishments.  Without the wonders of TABOR, Ritter wouldn’t have had the opportunity or need to pillage the funds you speak about above.

        1. .. and the rest of your comment almost can be taken as a compliment.

Except for the “tricking” part (which won’t be necessary), you offered a precient observation on the likely fate of TABOR 😉

  3. Is it just me or is he horrible on a prompter?  Wow.

Thanks for the higher property tax bill I just got and thanks for the higher car registration taxes that I’ll have to pay next year, Bill.  You couldn’t lead yourself out of a paper bag.

  4. Its seems to me a 19.2 billion dollar budget isnt a cut compared to the 17.9 dollar budget we had last year, but seems like a 7+ percent INCREASE.
