The Video is Real. The Subtitles...Not So Much

UPDATE: Judging from the comments on our YouTube page for this video, some people didn’t seem to understand that this was meant as satire.

Senator Cory Gardner (R-Yuma) met with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on May 31 in Manila, and the secretive rendezvous did not put Gardner in a very good light.

We took a longer look at the video from the meeting that came out of the Philippines “Presidential Communications” office and attempted to do a little lip-reading. Here’s what we came up with:

  1. Hilarious. And probably close to the truth. Except I think that Duterte and Gardner used each other, each for his own purposes. For comparison, here is another video of Duterte speaking with a Senator from his own country. No audio on this one, either. What is the point? To be seen making nice, I guess. Duterte needs to be seen as a nice guy, although he is not.

Duterte's country is erupting into chaos; half of the south is under martial law. He's supposedly fighting ISIS militants, but is apparently killing many citizens, and burning and destroying homes in airstrikes with weapons supplied by the US. See this Phillipines news video – English translation at ~ 6 minutes in.

Gardner, in my opinion, is seeking some diplomatic cover or Phillipine consent for his legislation  to warn and to censure the Chinese for building and arming an island, along with several  natural islands in the South China Sea.

In support of this hypothesis, General Matthis just (6/2/17) warned China that their activities contribute to regional instability. Both China and the US are drawing lines and warning of dire consequences for crossing them.

I was just a child when Vietnam escalated into a fulblown war – but I see similarities. Just substitute IIS for “Viet Cong”. Am I wrong? Talk me down.

    1. I know Moldy.  "Not everything Cory Gardner does is evil."  Amirite?  Enlighten us as to what he has done that is evil and not evil.

Btw.  "Progressmeow"?  Not the best insult.  Some of us like cats.  So, progress for cats baby!!!
