According to the Denver Post, a group called Campaign for Liberty bought a major ad buy touting Senatorial candidate Ken Buck’s conservative credentials.
“Thank Ken Buck for choosing Colorado conservative values,” the ad says…
This is no small buy–the group spent $350,000 on the ad and makes a point of mentioning that Buck is not a “career politician” but rather a “tough prosecutor who will take on the D.C. insiders.” The ad also urges the other candidates running for the Senate to fill out Campaign for Liberty’s survey.
Buck was recently in Estes Park and was being heralded as the true conservative candidate in the primary. May the race for the candidate with the most conservative credentials begin.

1. He’s run for office on his own before.
2. He’s willing to talk to people and tell them where he stands.
Just ask Andrew Romanoff. He’s in the first competitive campaign of his life, and look how that’s going.
primary or serious Republican opposition. HD 6 was safe due in substantial part to his efforts.
He marshalled many times the number of volunteers found in any other state legislative campaign I’ve ever seen, kept them well organized, walked the district tirelessly much more often than most candidates, raise money well and spent it to produce immense visibility.
He also eats, drinks and breathes politics 24/7.
I’m sorry but facts don’t lie and HD6 is one of the safest Dem districts, registration and otherwise, in this state. It was Gordon’s before it was Romanoff’s. It’s fine to be a Romanoff supporter but don’t shade the truth to suit your support, not when it comes to races Romanoff won–he ran four times in a safe district and in one race, had no opponent.
We’ve been down this road the facts don’t bear out your assertions. http://www.coloradopols.com/di…
$350,000 this early out is quite a buy.
For Dan Maes – when 350K is spent for a single ad by one small group of supporters for Buck, but he only raised 10K for the quarter – the conservative money just isn’t there for him.
For Tom Wiens – the 350K could have gone to him or Ken Buck. Clearly they see Ken Buck as the more credible candidate.
On Maes IDK. If McInnis really looks like he’s going to lose, there might be a purity campaign. Wait a few weeks to see how things settle in.
I saw the ad this morning, and I have to admit it is done quite well. While everyone else is dark Buck is up and going…driving home a message that seems to be resonating with the general population.
He’ll be lucky to get invited to a few debates.
I don’t know the Republican field in the Senate race well enough to know how they will play in a GOP caucus or primary.
It’s a healthy chunk of cash which ought to be getting Norton’s attention in a big way.
With the Rs busy trashing each other, it keeps the fire away from Bennet (and AR.) Knowing the Visigoth right as I do, I am sure they won’t honor Ronald Reagan’s 11th Commandment.
LEt them devour themselves
excoriated Norton for taking out-of-state funding, yet several days later we see Buck get some airtime and no insignificant amount of money spendt due to a Ron Paul-obsessed national Campaign for Liberty.
One could never accuse Malkin of having a small mind . . . could one?
You have to have a mind to begin with before assigning a magnitude to it.
One of my favorite things about politics is the hypocrisy that is on a level unto itself.
It’s not at all clear the money is coming from out of state.
but it has state affiliates that are pretty much off on their own.
I’ve read about this in about 5 different places and no one is really sure where the money is coming from (state or national) and can’t confirm it’s the same group that worked on behalf of Ron Paul. It’s assumed it is the same group but as of yet, no definitive proof.
is the first one of its kind they’ve run this cycle, too.
Some Jane Norton and Ken Buck shills were arguing over at Colorado Independent. I do not agree with this person’s idea of what a tax hike is but I found the comment to be hilarious.
http://coloradoindependent.com…
“Norton is a conservative besides all of that silly Ref C. stuff. I mean she is still the fiscal conservative in the race besides supporting the largest tax hike in Colorado history. Who pays attention to that stuff anyways? Not me for one and not Josh Penry. Josh Penry doesn’t bow down to anyone, especially not the people who are supporting Jane like Bill Owens and Phil Anshutz. Norton is also the grassroots candidate, I got a call from both John McCain and Charlie Black asking me to go over to their place for a BBQ meet and greet with Jane and her 60 staff members, granted old Johnny informed me it was a BYOB event. Come on activists, pay attention to folks who are smarter then us, and get on the Jane Norton bandwagon!”

Hopefully he’ll have some good news to report about his campaign (read: fundraising). I don’t think Jane Norton is corrupt, exactly, but I know her family can’t not be, and you know how corruption is like a disease…a really, really contagious disease…
Plus, she’s got all the charisma and personal appeal of a cinder block, only with more eye shadow.
Ken Buck for Senate…
the cinder block didn’t have great legs.
I think you mean stems.
Oooh la la!
Do you think that Ken Buck could beat Bennet or Romanoff in the general election, or are you supporting Buck because you think that he would be the best to represent you as a conservative?
…general, but I think Buck can win too.
Provided that he keeps it ALL on fiscal issues, which is exactly what he’s been doing during his campaign
