And Istanbul is one of the world’s truly great cities.
I was there for about 5 weeks in 2006. Thought about moving there permanently.
6 months in freezing, hardly-any-electricity Georgia to the east.
Ironically, Istanbul seemed almost like the consumerist West, compared to Tbilisi, where even common chicken eggs had to be imported from Turkey.
And the lights actually came on when one flipped the switch!

W Bush would’ve never supported Arizona 1070 or efforts to repeal the 14th Amendment – in addition, he would be unlikely to oppose the NYC Mosque, as well
Unless the GOP has gone completely racist, the moderate wing of the Party will clamor for another Bush – Jeb is also very young and popular in Florida – he will run, I just don’t know when – and when he does, I’m likely to support him
However, I worry that Jeb lacks W’s spine – W held his ground against bigotry and maintained great respect – we’ll see if Jeb can command similar authority – as a more ‘socially liberal’ member of the Party, I’m quickly losing faith in our GOP leadership who are fanning the fires of bigotry, not stopping it
